The Democratic establishment may be gravitating toward Michael Bloomberg after Joe Biden finished a disappointing fourth in the Iowa caucuses and appears to be flatlining in New Hampshire.
Fretting that liberals Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren are too polarizing to defeat President Trump and concerned about the lack of support for Pete Buttigieg among minorities and seniors, Democratic operatives and elected officials who had pinned their hopes on Biden are taking a closer look at Bloomberg. In the former New York mayor, Democratic insiders see a contender with broad appeal who has the fortitude to handle Trump and the resources to compete.
This guy has some guts, said Rep. Juan Vargas, a California Democrat backing Bloomberg. Thats what we need, a guy that can win, has some guts, and quite frankly, would be the best president out there.
Bloomberg has ticked up to third in the race for establishment endorsements, behind Warren, despite launching his campaign in late November.
Biden, 77, still has the commanding support of establishment Democrats, especially candidates and incumbents running down-ticket in tough contests. They have viewed the former vice president as the most electable against Trump, confident he could unify the Democratic Party while cutting into the presidents advantage with blue-collar voters in the Midwest and attracting disaffected Republicans in the suburbs.
The former vice president enjoys a wide lead over the field in establishment endorsements. Yet Biden has had trouble with young voters and the liberal base. Meanwhile, attacks from Trump over Bidens and son Hunter Bidens dealings with Ukraine while the elder Biden was vice president have some Democrats worried he is too weak to beat Trump. Although Democrats say the attacks are untrue, some are having flashbacks to Hillary Clinton and the scandal surrounding her private email server that...

“Big Gulp” goes over better as a chant.
His business is one that is a monopoly, he put Quotron out of business when he came up with his own terminal that gave more in-depth financial news and information.
He has no competition and keeps it that way, he has over 325,000 terminals in use and rents them out at $20,000 a month each. A good Anti-Trust case could be made on him if anyone had the guts to do so.
Bloomberg is no Capitalist, Crony Socialist more likely.
He wants to control us all and is himself now a Socialist, all his solutions that he is pushing are Big Government, more taxes, and more regulations.
He is Bernie, just quieter and dressing in $5000 dollar suits to look smooth and trustworthy.
After Bloomberg conks out, its on to Romney.
He is very unpopular with the Dem base; he was a control freak as mayor of NYC (which they felt targeted blacks), he won the job as a Republican, and he is very rich white guy. It doesn’t help that he reduced the size of their Big Gulps (actually an environmental disaster, as some people would buy two smaller ones instead of one larger one), removed salt shakers from restaurant tables, wanted congestion pricing in Lower Manhattan (little people got in the way of the 1%ers in their playground), and changed the law to allow him to buy a third term.
He’s just in it to spread money around on leftist causes, nothing else.
The revolt by the Sandernistas against Hillary in 2016 would pale in comparison to the uproar by rank-and-file Dem voters against Bloomberg.
I hope the idiotic Rats keep thinking MiniMike has guts LMAO!
This is a whiney little putz who is buying his nomination and has ordered Bloomberg News to not report on any candidate except President Trump.
In the meantime he wants to take away our guns while he prances around surrounded by armed guards.
MiniMike is a clean-shaven Stalin, a massive coward, fascist and hypocrite.
Midget Mike will never be President of the United States of America!
“Thats what we need, a guy that can win, has some guts”
seriously? bloomberg always looks and acts like he thinks he’s mingling with Martians anytime he’s forced to be in the same room with fly-over Americans ... plus, the littlest oligarch has less charisma than a cauliflower ...
“Blumquist doesn’t have a prayer, but as long as he pretends to be running for President he can bypass the FEC and spend as much as he wants on Democrat advocacy ads. “
he can do all of that without being a candidate simply by establishing a PAC and donating a few billion to the PAC ...
“Bloomdwarf probably buys the nom at a brokered convention.”
that could very well happen as it’s looking like no candidate will arrive at the convention with a majority of delegates due to proportional allocation of Dem delegates by all 50 states, which means no one would win on the first ballot, at which point the super-delegates get to vote on the 2nd and subsequent ballots ...
“but practically ZERO charisma”
LESS charisma than a moldy cauliflower ...
PACs are guaranteed access to ad frequency or placement, or to the lowest price. Candidates are.
That would be obeying the law.
Democrats can’t be caught obeying laws.
Dear Mini Mike....America isn’t NYC and NYC isn’t America
Bloomers has no sense or feel of the “Little People” - he has zero common sense or empathy and thinks being the Grand Nanny will get him elected - in effect, he’s no different than Bernie.
a couple of billion dollars can buy you a lot of guts and body guards.
No Big Gulp for you!
Exactly - super Nanny State guy who believes he has the right to take over the whole deal - I wonder if maybe someone will show up to an event/debate with a Big Gulp cup and ask his opinion on why it needs to be taken away as an option.
And you’re exactly right no Big Gulp or soup for me for pointing it out on his Twitter site....except I live in Mississippi and, while I never had a Big Gulp (not a soft drink fan), I can get all I want.
