7 Takeaways From the Democratic Debate in New Hampshire [nothing but ad hominem attacks]
NYT ^ | 2/7/2020 | Shane Goldmacher

There was neither a soaring nor shattering moment for the Democratic presidential candidates at their debate on Friday night, but it was still the most contentious one yet

...

Former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. questioned the long-term viability of the candidacies of Senator Bernie Sanders and former Mayor Pete Buttigieg, the two victors in the Iowa caucuses.

Mr. Buttigieg swiped at his opponents as Washington insiders.

Mr. Sanders cast Mr. Buttigieg as the candidate of the billionaire class.

Senator Elizabeth Warren hit others on how they were financing their campaigns.

And Senator Amy Klobuchar swung both at Mr. Sanders for his down-ballot impact and at Mr. Buttigieg for being, as she put it, “a cool newcomer.”

[and more of the same]

NYT made little mention of an any actual policy debates, but instead focused on their ad hominem attacks against each other ... some other articles mentioned they wrangled a lot about racism and apparently health care came up as well ...

[btw, if anyone wants to read the full article, they'll probably have to use Reader View in firefox, or the Just Read extension in chrome to bypass the paywall]

mostly likely, as these debates continue they'll become more and more vicious with more and more ad hominem attacks, which makes sense, since there's not a nickel's worth of actual difference between this pathetic gaggle of kommies ... however, i doubt all of these personal attacks will endear any of these fools to the Dem primary electorate ...

My wife had the mental midget debate on when I got home from work last night. Andrew Yang was droning about the way the economy is going ALL black families will be destitute by 2050.

What??? And he’s supposed to be one of the smart ones? After that Pocahontas started flapping her mouth about something or another and I begged my wife to turn it off. Thankfully she did.

Those people don’t debate, they spew bullshit and lies.

Klobuchar won the debate. If she doesn’t get traction, look for her as a candidate for VP regardless of who the presidential nominee is.

Everyone on the stage hated white people and wanted to steal their stuff.

Everyone—every time.

Scott Adams has an interesting perspective on her. He says she has not immediately obvious flaws, and that helps in a general election because Trump likes to sieze on the opponent’s biggest weakness (i.e. “Sleepy Joe”, “Crazy Bernie”, etc). He also says she’s boring and dull which is a problem in the primaries when you have to stand out but not in a general where it’s one-on-one and all she’d have to do is be the “not Trump” candidate.

Still, her chance of getting the nomination is slim but your point about being a VP choice makes a lot of sense.

The democrats main problem throughout this exercise is how far left the socialist wing has pulled the entire party. Their candidate, after what promises to be a divided convention, will enter the general far to the left of an overwhelming majority of Americans.

Bernie is going to get screwed because the big money donors for the DNC do not want him. In fact, they are going to want Bloomberg (not even a democrat).

The disaffection of Bernie supporters will be even more pronounced than it was in the last election and in the key swing states Trump won their non-participation and protests were a major swing. If it is Bloomberg who “buys the nomination” this disaffection will extend to the supporters of Mayor Pete, Biden, and Warren. However, I have yet to see anything impressive about Bloomberg as a candidate beyond his unprecedented bankroll.

On top of that, the incumbent (advantage 1) is killing it with peace and unprecedented prosperity (advantage 2).

Outside of these obvious conclusions at this point your guess is as good as mine as to who it will be. Unlike many others and despite the speculation for pundits it provides, I do not see how a convention draft effort for someone not currently in the race is possible.

The whole debacle was hilarious!

After the first couple of really boring hours of the Schiff show, I have vowed that I will never go through anything like that again. Therefore I will not watch or listen to democrats at any time and in any place. Life is too short to listen to a long-winded boring harangue of lies.

FUDGEPACKIN PETE WAS ON TV TALKING ABOUT WOMAN AND PREGNANCY. IS PETE TAKING BIRTH CONTROL MED SO HE DOESN’T GET PREGNANT OR IS HIS SPOUSE AFRAID HE MIGHT GET PREGNANT? IT SEEMS THERE IS A QUESTION OF WHO IS ON TOP.

The PIAPS will not be the nominee.

Little Mike Bloomberg will out spend her.

I thin Bloomberg is the guy to beat at this point

That the democrats decided this cycle delegates will be selected proportiantely, with no winner-take-all states, makes a brokered convention even more likely. A simple majority of delegates is required to get the nomination.

In a brokered convention I can easily see how Klobuchar could get the nod.

The problem is the Democrats have no policy ideas and don’t show Americans what they would do address their problems.

Its basically Blame America First. They have nothing that makes people want to vote for them this year.

You can’t beat something with nothing. Which is why Trump will be re-elected.
