There has been discussion that biological weapons could be genetically engineered to target certain genetic differences between different groups of people, so that epidemics could be created, that would only kill members of that group.

There is a German person who got it from a Chinese associate. But to say he is not Chinese is merely guessing. He may or may not be Asian
I think it may turn out that any caucasian has a better chance of recovering than an Asian who gets it.
What we do know is that China is acting like they let loose a bioweapon. And US officials boarding planes look like they are wondering, too, by the gear they were wearing.
