Richard Spencer, Trump's former Navy secretary, endorses Michael Bloomberg in 2020 race

Richard V. Spencer, President Trump’s ousted former Navy secretary, endorsed on Friday the opposing White House campaign of Democratic candidate Michael R. Bloomberg.

Mr. Spencer, who was asked to resign in November amid a dispute involving retired Navy SEAL and convicted war criminal Edward R. Gallagher, stumped for Mr. Bloomberg during a campaign event held in Virginia shortly after his support was announced on the candidate’s official website.

Speaking near a naval base in Norfolk, Mr. Spencer touted the billionaire media mogul and former New York City mayor for having characteristics crucial to running the country.

We need a leader with integrity and discipline who is a pragmatic problem solver,” said Mr. Spencer.

“If we are to sustain this experiment called democracy, America needs the best leader available. A leader who understands the complexities of today’s world both foreign and domestic. A leader who can articulate, implement his strategy while having a steady hand on the wheel,” Mr. Spencer added. Mr. Spencer, 66, led the Navy for more than two years under Mr. Trump prior to being pushed out amid a disagreement over Gallagher, who was convicted of posing with a human corpse but allowed with the president’s support to retire as a SEAL. He is the first former high-ranking member of the Trump administration to back Mr. Bloomberg, who launched his campaign in November and has steadily gained in the polls since.

That decision was made in 2010, long before Trump became President, and long before this guy became Secretary of the Navy.

I was enlisted in the USMC 67-71. Among the officers especially there some absolute jag-offs. This guy sounds like he fits that description.

Just proves what an ass he was in the first place.

Trump would have been well served asking for Obama appointed general officers to resign.

[So many bad appointments.

I had expected President Trump to be better at that.]

Trump is a businessman. He expects the people in any business he acquires to transfer their allegiance to him. That the public sector works differently probably came as a surprise to him. It’s as if Hilton took over Marriott, and the Marriott guys started spying for Wyndham Resorts while getting a paycheck from the new Hilton-Marriott conglomerate.

The nest of vipers that has come out against him has probably been an education for him. He won’t get bit twice.

This guy is not military. Service secretaries are civilian political appointees and resign at the end of each administration as do all political appointees.

Spencer is the last one who should talk about leaders "with integrity and discipline" given what he did to get fired.

given what he did to get fired

There was some disagreement here at the time about whether he was right in his claim that a tweet was not a lawful order. Turns out he was wrong, which almost any serving line officer would have known. An order is an order is an order and is presumed legal. If you receive it and understand it and can execute it, you are bound to execute it, if it comes tied to the back of a gopher.

I love how they have to use his middle initial and former job to distinguish this guy from the OTHER Richard Spencer.

We could take advantage of that and start a whisper campaign on the leftweb that racist Richard Spencer is endorsing Bloomberg. Might cause a little chaos :D

Are all the members of the coup going to support Bloomberg? And are those who pull the strings going to rig the nomination for him?

I’m so sick of Bloomberg and his vicious attacks on Trump. Here in Florida the commercials are all Bloomberg all the time. He spent $11 million in the state already. Trump should use this in an ad:

File this one under “Trump should fire everybody.” Most likely he’s going to get anybody better for these Senate confirmed positions.

The first sentence of his Wikipedia entry clearly describes who he is.

“Richard Vaughn Spencer is an American politician and businessman who served as the 76th United States Secretary of the Navy from August 3, 2017, to November 24, 2019.”-— Wikipedia
