Except for all the manufacturing defects which cause it to break into it pieces, blow out the cabin , etc.
Well-built can only be stated of its landing gear.
In 1974 a Turkish DC-10 crashed near Paris, killing 346.
In 1976 a Turkish Boeing 727 crashed in southern Turkey, killing 154.
In 2003 a Turkish Airlines plane crashed during approach to the airport in Diyarbakir, Turkey, killing 75.
“Muslims dont play football.”
Yeah...but they’ve been known to spike a plane before. ;-)
Turk Hava Yolari..... THY.... we used to joke that it stood for They Hate You....
My theory is that it is because either no private aviation or it is restricted to the point that they never learn how to really fly.
As for this accident, go to https://avherald.com/h?article=4d2e6a8d&opt=0
and read it. It gives us a lot of info.
And relative to that info, my experience was (long ago retired from flying) that good landings are made or made very difficult if not impossible 3 miles outside the marker. That would be for a light twin...farther out for big iron.
At that point, the air speed must be stabilized at the correct speed for that segment, landing checklist complete, power properly set, right down to the last detail.
Too hot, too high, mad scramble to do the check list.....very bad landing and for an instrument approach, probably gets your name in the paper.
This crew met none of that criteria.
As for the downwind landing, the pilot in command has the right to demand the appropriate runway.
Theres a commercial pilot on YouTube called “blancolirio” who does a pretty good job of following the more recent accidents. He doesn’t venture far beyond facts available at the time so you don’t get a lot of bullcrap guessing, just an informed opinion. Check him out, if you are so inclined.

Turkish Airlines have a habit over shooting runways
Pilots in the 2000’s do not know airman ship - only how to monitor the flight control computers, being mostly trained in simulators and in some foreign countries are thrown into right seat with nothing more than simulator training.
Thanks, Im flying Turkish Airlines this morning from Oslo to Istanbul.
Had two chapels there, one Protestant and one Catholic.
The Lord brought a Mom all the way from Texas (via Uncle Sugar's travel service) to teach us in Sunday School and pray the sinners prayer with our class.
Made a tremendous difference in my life.
You notice any original Orthodox chapels there? No? Oh. I wonder why........
When my brother was stationed in Athens during the Turkish Cypress War, he felt that the U.S. supporting both sides (one of them Communist) was the height of lunacy.
But in fairness, there were some Orthodox chapels still left, such as a famous one in Constantinople ... just perverted in their use then and now.
Wind was reported 290 at 22 knots, gusting to 37 knots, wind variable 240 to 330. Why did the aircraft land on runway 06?
