The nominee for the Pentagon's second-highest personnel role has withdrawn from consideration for the post after an op-ed he wrote for The Federalist surfaced, sources tell Politico.
A number of sources told the publication that J. David Patterson, who was nominated Jan. 9 for principal deputy undersecretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, was withdrawing his name.
The withdrawal stems from a 2017 op-ed that Patterson wrote for the conservative website, in which Patterson and co-author A.D.P. Efferson blame mass killings on immigrants who fail to assimilate to American culture.
One explanation for the rise in terrorist behavior in the United States is the insidious and significantly difficult-to-pinpoint problem of failure to assimilate into an adopted culture, Patterson and Efferson wrote. By growing evidence, promoting multiculturalism is a major culprit. We certainly dont discount the influence of ISIS ubiquitous propaganda, but to be compelling there must be a willing mind.
Continuing, they added: Multiculturalism is the antithesis of what the United States stands for and the foundational thinking of our founding fathers that sustains America as its own unique society."

The Truth shall set you free.
Patterson spoke the truth, and is now free from the burden of being principal deputy undersecretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness.
Telling the truth, not a career enhancer in a bureaucracy!
Pattersons only sin was telling the truth. There is no reason for him to withdraw from consideration. Trump should renominate him.
Probably a good thing because he’s such a WIMP!
Multiculturalism is the antithesis of what the United States stands for and the foundational thinking of our founding fathers that sustains America as its own unique society.”

Absolutely right.
Truth is Hate to those who Hate Truth
Yes, in a society that shoots the messenger....
Look, the US Senate is the confirming entity, so if this simple truth is a poison pill to appointment/confirmation to a seat in the US Administration, the problem is closer to home than we are willing to state. The Uni-party of statists swamp dwellers is the culprit, not the good man who sees that truthfulness and honesty regarding serious issues with immigration and “non-Americanization” is the dangerous aspect of our society, not the saying so.
He sounds like a smart man.
He does not overlook the obvious...
In a government news system infested with lies, truth is made illegal.
I could not find anything in his writing that I disagreed with.
It’s long past time to not only push back, but punch back.
Progressives are the very definition of evil and vengeful.
Return the vengeance.
With interest.
If a man doesn’t have the stomach for standing up to ‘rats for these sorts of ideas expressed in an article he has written, he should NOT be in the Trump Administration in any capacity.
This is a fight we're in and this guy just folded like a house of cards.
Bring on the next nominee, maybe they have more intestinal fortitude.
Multiculturalism is the antithesis of what the United States stands for and the foundational thinking of our founding fathers that sustains America as its own unique society.”
Correct.
Why mention that its a conservative website if not to bias the entire article to begin with?
(You never see liberal website in these articles nor do you see social outcry from these publishers when pentagon officials make socialist articles in the same way)
From memory.....
Around the time period (2017) he wrote his essay, five of the Top Ten gun mass murderers in USA history were foreign born.
I will guess that the controversial part of his essay was addressing that fact.
I do not know if that ratio has changed over the last three years.
The guy didn’t withdraw, either the Senate or White House withdrew him. Someone got cold feet.
You might well be right. (On the other hand, some of these career types are spineless.)
