Trump kind of sand-bagged 69 year old Rush Limbaugh tonight.
Rush didn’t seem to know he was going to receive this award. He was shocked, and looked to Kathryn as if to ask, did you know this? And when it sunk in it was really happening, Trump announced that Melania would present the medal immediately.
As she put the medal around Rush’s neck, it was silent in the chamber. Then one man said it for the rest of us.
“Thank you Rush!”
Perfect!
It was a moving moment. How fitting that he will likely be the only person ever awarded the medal at the state of the union. A special honor for an incredible American.
I know it was announced earlier in the day that he would be receiving it, maybe he knew maybe he didn’t know, but if he knew I’m not sure he knew he would be receiving it at the State of the Union.
