The President said Rush’s cancer is Stage 4. Rush got the medal tonight, there will not be months.
...I hope I am wrong.
There *may* be months, but not necessarily *years*, I have seen patients with stage 4 cancer that have several months, and once in a while, a year or two. Rarely remission, but often, good and happy reprieves from treatment. Enough to say goodbye to their loved ones, and not everyone gets that luxury of time.
People survive stage four...genius. Aren’t you the pearl-clutching Negative Nellie .
I've listened off and on for decades. I'd like to be optimistic that we'll have his occasional commentary through election night but that's a very long way off. It's sad. I still listen on the way to work even if it's just 20 min.
I'm a little flabbergasted too, he was in a wheelchair, sure he's under orders to conserve energy but ...
How does Rush with surely 2 or 3 doctors who see him at least once a year, how in the hell did this go under the radar at Stage I / II / III?
A lifelong smoker of cigs (until 2010) and cigars, his doctors should have had at minimum a yearly CT scan and sought out sputum testing (there was a recent successful UK test 'EarlyCDT-Lung', and there are other tests out there). It's mind-blowing.
You want to get deep into your 80s, you're either dumb luck on the genes, or you have a pro-active doctor(s) who do panels and assays maybe twice a year, and ignore the rewards the insurance companies give him to deny you that very thing.
Hopefully it's just one lung with the small cell tumors and nowhere else, and maybe they can buy time with a lobectomy.
