Uber has temporarily suspended 240 accounts in Mexico after the customers traveled with two drivers who are suspected to have come into contact with a coronavirus sufferer.
The driver's had taken the individual, who had not been diagnosed at the time, on trips around Mexico City before picking up other customers.
The ride-hailing app suspended all accounts involved to stop the novel virus being transferred to others using its taxi service.
As many as 20,671 cases of coronavirus have been reported worldwide alongside 426 deaths from the virus. There are no reported cases in Mexico.

Responses are becoming odd across the globe.
There is a confirmed infected person in CA who took UBER touring around Mexico City then returning to CA. Maybe thats why.
From the article
Official advice has warned that being within two feet of a sufferer for more than 15 minutes could put you at risk of catching the virus.

Stopped driving Lyft two weeks ago. Any other action from uber in any other country?

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
Well just ordered some emergency food supplies....just in case...
Ahhh, this I did not know. Thanks!
We did last week as well.

Here’s what you don’t want: an infected mailman...
I don’t see how this is a sustainable strategy for them in a couple days when we are going to be seeing cases popping up literally everywhere. What are they going to do, suspend all Uber service until the virus is contained?
Leave your mail in the mailbox all week and get it out on Mondays before the new mail is delivered.
Leave any packages outside for a week. Put a sign on the front door to package pirates reminding them of the virus.
I was thinking about that. I can envision something like a “disinfectant box” becoming a household item. Use tongs to remove mail from the mailbox and put it in the disinfectant box. Put the tongs in, too. The disinfectant box has a mesh interior where items are held, but a solid outside. In between is a mechanism that fogs the inside of the box with some kind of disinfectant, hence the name. When the allotted time has passed (which I assume is slightly different for every brand of disinfectant), then you open the box and get your stuff out.
Under normal circumstances, that would be extreme. But if there ever is a pandemic (and this may or may not be it) then people would have to resort to extremes to protect themselves.
The virus can live on a hard surface outside the body for up to five days. I’m gong to buy bleach, dilute it, spray it on the mailbox, then open the mailbox, spray inside, close, then after an hour - - get the mail. That’s if there are cases in my area... For now I’m just assuming that a person who deliver mail to hundreds of homes and package from everywhere, won’t get the virus.
