Hong Kong(CNN)The spread of the Wuhan coronavirus shows no signs of slowing, as China reported another major spike in both confirmed cases and deaths in the region at the heart of the epidemic.
The total number of confirmed cases in China stands at 20,438 as of Tuesday morning, including a 1-month-old baby in southwestern Guizhou province, an increase of 3,235 on the previous day -- an over 18% jump. The death toll is now at 425 in China, an increase of around 65 from Sunday.

This article, seems to include percentages of fatalities, something I haven't seen a great deal of.
No one deserves it, especially a baby. Ones heart feels for all the sick and dying people.
The data here from Johns Hopkins shows smoother increases day to day, but a similar total.
Perhaps the big jump is due to an inconsistency in reporting.

I agree.
People seem partly, to be tuned out, because of other things they are paying attention to.
I am just saying, this is getting bigger, every single day.
I am just saying, this is getting bigger, every single day.
...
According to CNN. Not according to Johns Hopkins. Which do you think is more reliable?
Not sure, to tell the truth.
We will see.
The increase today, is pretty recent news.
As much as CNN is a hopelessly left wing network, sometimes they get things right.
I really don’t know which is more accurate, at this point
The one thing I keep in mind is no one wants to slow down the economy prematurely.
They have no idea of the numbers.
Pay attention to the geography and the velocity. They wont have real numbers, even if they are telling the truth, for months.
The 18% jump was the smallest percent jump in the history of the virus. There were 671 new cases outside Wuhan; that’s fewer than a week ago. The number of cases outside Wuhan seems to have peaked four days ago at 831.
The good news: The quarantine of Wuhan seems to have been successful.
The bad news: Wuhan is comparable in population to Great Britain or France. Plus, China just learned that it can do something in a biological war that there’s no way on Earth America ever could: successfully quarantine an entire region.
As long as almost all of these increases are in China, and remains there, then people in the U.S. can at least breathe a little eaiser.
2nd day fatalities were above 50/day; I wonder if well see 100 per day
You think? The first days they had 15,000 a day visiting the hospital
China only counts positively identified infected and deaths only if they are not related to another aislement like heart problems
This is how in America we count 40,000 flu deaths a year but China only 500....
Bkmk
“The bad news: Wuhan is comparable in population to Great Britain or France. Plus, China just learned that it can do something in a biological war that theres no way on Earth America ever could: successfully quarantine”
Huh? Wuhan is 11 million people. Maybe you meant Hubei province which Wuhan is the capital city, pop. 58 million. Even then 15% smaller pop. than the UK / France which are near identical at 67 million.
“Johns Hopkins shows smoother increases day to day...”
As of the Chinese data on 2/3:
The data is very irregular from Jan. 22nd (651 cases, 25 deaths) to Jan. 28th. The change in percentage increase for each cases each day ranges from 38 to 88%. So plotted on a graph it is relatively jagged. And the graph from the 26th to the 27 shows an increased jog in cases.
On the 28th the increase is 33%. From the 29th to Feb. 3rd the increases range from 27% to 14.4% - and show up on the graph as fairly smooth. I think that after that jump on the 28th, the folks giving out the numbers were told to follow a lower number, and were given a smooth model to follow. (But don’t always follow the model - mess it up a bit).
From the 22nd to the 28th, the change in the percentage differences ranged from -55 to +63%. From the 29th to the third it ranges from -7.9 to 3.2 percent, a dramatic decrease. Something happened on the 29th, and they started fudging numbers from there.
The percent change in deaths based on total cases is even stronger evidence that the numbers are cooked. From the 22nd to 28th it ranges from -1.0 to 0.8%. From the 29th to the 3rd it ranges from -.08 to 0.3%
I was trying to find what happened on the 28th to the 29th for the Chinese to start fudging the numbers....
U.S. and other countries started evacuation people.
If it’s a pandemic, we’ll know soon enough.
I don’t believe anything human beings say anymore.
If there’s anything you can count on it’s that Red China is underreporting the number of cases and the number of deaths. The only question is, by how much.
