Entrance polls: Iowa caucusgoers prioritize electability, health care

Iowa caucusgoers are prioritizing candidates’ perceived electability and health care policies in choosing who to vote for in the Hawkeye State’s crucial first nominating contest, according to Monday entrance polls.

Voters overwhelmingly said they wanted a Democratic candidate who could defeat President Trump in November over someone who neatly aligns with their ideologies. Sixty-three percent of respondents to an NBC News entrance poll said they want the Democratic Party to nominate a candidate who "can beat Donald Trump," while 35 percent want a nominee who "agrees with you on major issues."

Two-thirds of voters surveyed in a CNN entrance poll said they also valued electability over ideological agreements.

As far as issues are concerned, health care was widely considered to be the most important to Iowa Democrats. Forty-one percent told NBC News that health care matters most to them in making their decision. Roughly 40 percent said the same to CNN.

Climate change and income inequality were the second and third-most important issues in both polls.

Health care I can understand... Climate change and income inequality? Seriously?

They were probably the only three issues on the poll.

It's an easy way to create a narrative about what issues people allegedly care about.

Thanks for spelling that out so clearly. It’s obvious on the face of it. Talk about pablum!

So now we have entrance Polls? <<

Yeah...now you can compare them to the pre-entrance polls CNN did last week...If you're a democrat...you really have to pay attention to know who you're supposed to vote for...they take it much more serious then republicans do....

Republicans just vote helter-skelter for who they like at the time they vote...

I thought the reason they couldn’t publish the DeMoines Register poll was because it didn’t include Buttigieg? And a few others? Lots of “issues” going on in IA Democrat politics.

Someone leaked results that were previously suppressed. It’s on the internet so you know it’s true.

Well good luck with that. He already whupped their number 1, Clinton, and he's MUCH more popular today. Face it the Dem field is nothing but cannon fodder.
