Just got wind of Limbaugh’s cancer. I was unable to hear live. Sounds though like he waited to the end of show to announce and mainly since he will have to get treatments that will affect him being in studio. I began hearing Mr. Limbaugh in 91 and followed him on and off over the years. But really got into him when big news broke and since 2007. I recall his broadcast on 9/11/01. He is a favorite of mine. I wish him the best. This is sad news. Rush also worked for the mlb team in my area in marketing before launching his radio career. Chiefs the football team across the parking lot won SB last night. Rush used to live in Kansas City.

I remember the day my wife called me at work and said...

“There is a guy on KINS radio who sounds like you (Me)”
He was on a station in Sacramento and it was not long until a syndication picked him out and transplanted him in New York city. Somewhere during that time he started his RUSH to Excellence tours and 10 small businesses like ours sponsored him twice to come to Eureka and speak. First one was at HSU in Arcata and the local communist went nuts so the next appearance was at the Eureka Municipal Auditorium and another packed house. The sponsors got to meet with him privately prior to his hour on stage and we were all drinking but he said he did not drink and it took a bit for me to digest that. In those days he took the Red Eye special commercial flights on Friday nights to travel to his events...

Just thinking back- does anyone remember how this ping list started for Rush’s show? A long time ago I remember sending the pings but I don’t know if it preceded me or not. I’ve been around here for a bit.

Rush may have known that he would receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom but I don't think he had a clue that it would be presented by FLOTUS during the SOTU speech.
