Thanks.
well, put on a blindfold, have someone put a dot on the floor and watch and count, while you now walk around blindfolded for a minute in random directions. How many times did you walk on the dot? That’s 0.1
now put 999 dots on the floor, repeat. That’s the difference.
I know you’re pointing out that the 0.1 will still infect you, but the chances of encountering it, or encountering it in any quantity that would find it’s way to your nose or mouth, are way low. It’s like getting the R0 to 0.1.
Unless there is a complete DNA/RNA or recombinant chain, the virus parts or fragments aren’t going to be infectious because a fragment won’t have the full coding to replicate. Like the supposed HIV fragments found in CV, they’re meaningless without a code. It’s just ‘stuff’ sitting around being stupid. And I’d be more worried about the PAV or VAP (forget what it’s called) element to the coding over HIV elements anyway, because if that’s really there, it explains why the immune system is suppressed and we can counter that.
I was having a “reaction” moment..it happens:) I agree with you, and expect on the level of common interests the scientists and doc from any country will get along and work well with each other. But! Politics lurk, and always will.
outside of the original quarantine area of 56 million... most of China went back to work today after the holiday
there were a couple of large cities outside of the quarantine areas that have told people to say home
a clue to see if they think is is under control ot not is if more cities outside of the quarantine area take similar steps

Check this out. I’m not convinced but am not thinking it’s preposterous either. Senator Cotton is also open to the possibility.
on cruise ships known for upsetstomach, diarrhea? not a thing
that can’t be handled by keeping the ship anchored around well offshore for a few weeks. j/k ?
you’re right. CCP has turned down 3 offers for help. And yesterday they issued a published apology to Israel for comparing US flight closures to ‘turning away the Jews’ in ww2. But just to Israel, mind you. There’s an old saying, the Chinese have glass hearts - easily broken by the slightest pressure. And each loss of face has to be responded to with retaliation. So we’re being badmouthed in China because we won’t let in sick Chinese. Never mind we’re driving treatments and vax research. Wait til they get our bill!
CDC briefing notes, hattip Sharon Sanders at FluTrackers:
5 more US infections, total is 11.
4 of 5 have travel history to Wuhan, 1 of 5 is a close contact of a known case.
Expect this to continue.
167 persons under investigation have tested negative
82 tests pending on possible cases
CDC has isolated virus
Will submit an emergency request to FDA to be able to use new CDC test
Negative test does not quarantee 100% disease free. Infection might be new in person’s body and is not picked up by test yet.
CDC is issuing additional guidance for travelers
Travel policy will not catch every case. Goal is to slow entry in the US.
Dept of State bringing more people back from Wuhan. Will be under quarantine for 14 days.
“A very serious health threat” Preparing like this is the next pandemic.
Rumor control? Holding press conferences to get correct information out. Asking for journalists to help in getting credible data out. American public is at low risk. Focus is now on travelers.
Name is temporary.
11 airports are heaving screening: JFK, O”Hare, SFO, Seattle, Honolulu, LAX, Atlanta, Washington Dulles, Dallas, Newark, Detroit.
Only 195 quarantined - the original people from Wuhan. (My comment: Except what about the hospitalized people? Aren’t they essentially quarantined also?)
No deaths in the US. Some patients have had some oxygen requirements.
Where do quarantined people from the airports go? Working on plan. Might be different per location. Many localities have pandemic plans and have an idea where they will place these people.
17k in China with a novel virus with no immunity. Large expanding outbreak. Community transmission in China. All worrisome data points.
Goal is to slow this thing down.
“Unprecedented threat”
Is CDC panicking? Horrible situation in China. Lots of disruption. Hearts go out to them.
CDC has strong scientists. CDC would be a help to China. Science should trump everything else.
Homeland Security orders enhanced coronavirus screening at Detroit Metro Airport
Today 12:57 PM
DETROIT The Detroit Metropolitan Airport is one of 11 airports that will have enhanced security and receiving capabilities for passengers who have traveled to China during the coronavirus outbreak.
Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad F. Wolf announced the decision on Sunday, which means all flights from China and all passengers who have traveled to China within the last 14 days could be rerouted to one of the 11 designated airports,
Not one but four tests later, Chinese man finally confirmed with coronavirus
Tianjin railway worker identified as infected after multiple visits to hospital and twice becoming sick, health authorities say
Not a comforting report given another patient was tested 3 times over a 5 day period. The first two were negative, the third was positive. The passenger on the ship was tested once and they turned the passengers loose.
