Schiff mum on House subpoena of Bolton
The Hill ^ | February 2, 2020 | Justine Coleman

Posted on 02/02/2020 11:47:03 AM PST by jazusamo

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) declined to comment on whether the House would subpoena former national security adviser John Bolton after the topic came up during an interview Sunday.

CBS’s Margaret Brennan asked Schiff, the head House impeachment manager in President Trump's impeachment trial, if Bolton would be subpoenaed in the lower chamber following the Senate’s likely acquittal of Trump.

“I don't want to comment to this point on what our plans may or may not be with respect to John Bolton,” Schiff said on "Face The Nation."

“But I will say this: whether it's before – in testimony before the House or it's in his book or it's in one form or another, the truth will continue to come out,” he added.

The House Intelligence Committee chairman’s comments come two days after the Senate voted not to include additional witnesses and documentation in the impeachment trial.

He criticized the Justice Department for releasing a court filing including two dozen emails detailing the president’s involvement in withholding aid to Ukraine after the vote Friday.

"That shows you the lengths to which the President's lawyers are going to cover this up," he said, adding: "but they're going to fail. Indeed, they've failed already."

Last week, The New York Times revealed a section of Bolton’s manuscript stated that Trump had been directly involved in withholding the aid until the country agreed to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his family.

Before that, the president’s legal team had been arguing in the impeachment trial that Trump did not directly say to hold back the aid. Democrats pushed for senators to support Bolton testimony during the trial but were unsuccessful.

The impeachment trial is expected to end this week with Trump’s acquittal, but the House would still have the ability to subpoena Bolton.

The America-hating Democrat/Left Party and their whacked-out base has lost on Russia, they've lost on impeachment and they're in big, big trouble in November (both for the Presidency and for the House). They will do whatever it takes -- no matter how irrational, extreme or even violent, to stop Trump from nominating any conservative justices to the USSC (certainly two, possibly three) over the next four-and-a-half years.

The America-hating Democrat/Left Party and their whacked-out base are very nearly over the edge today -- and they will go off the rails when their communist candidate is again thwarted in the primaries and they will go absolutely berserk when Trump wins again.

This is a dangerous Party and these are dangerous people -- A danger to the Constitution and a formidable threat to our Republic.

..."but they're going to fail. Indeed, they've failed already."

There's the projection. I knew he had it in him.

I think the POTUS’ great defense team could make the case for attempted double jeopardy, and most people would understand that.

Schitt has no credibility as a prosecutor, both Dersh and Roberts b*tch-slapped him over the Senate witness issue. Schitt said Dershowitz doesn’t know anything about the Constitution (LOL!) , is Schitt going to say that about Roberts LMAO?

Schitt will have to invent an entirely new “high crime and misdemeanor” before he can try to impeach Trump again. But he did such a terrible incompetent job on this impeachment, I’m not sure the Vile Botoxian would appoint Schitt or Lard@ss as House managers again.

Well said, I agree.

The Dems are not even trying to cover their lying leftist communist actions like they have in the past.

Dangerous Party and people is exactly right.

Follow the money. Bolton went to work for the Atlantic Council after WH. Atlantic Council is financed in part by,..... Burisma. Is it any wonder all associated with Burisma wire fraud and money laundering are working to discredit anybody investigating the situation? d";^)

Yep.

The actual new impeachment charges will come if Dems retain control of the House after elections. That will technically be a new Congress.

Bolton’s opinion of what went on is just that an OPINION. Bolton is a warmongering neo-con artist and his feelings were hurt by being fired. Differences of opinion and hurt feelings are not High Crimes or Misdemeanors. So, let Bolton spew his stuff out of the hole under his mustache and it means nothing.

Bolton’s memoirs are on hold as there is potential privileged information in them. Look back at the reporting on this, his book failed the vetting process and until it is cleared it will not be printed

Period

If they do then there will be Hell to pay for all involved

He won’t be allowed to testify unless it is a proper impeachment inquiry, with representation for the President at a minimum.

Not double jeopardy as, contrary to the belief of the Dimocrats, this is not a legal proceeding, but a legislative one.

So let Schittforbrains try to impeach POTUS for the same “offense” again!” What a brilliant idea!

He botched attempt #1 so badly, he has no credibility before the Senate.

This current impeachment is his extreme personal failure. As I watched the trial on Friday afternoon, it seemed that even his own team was SICK of listening to him. His factless rants and absurd melodramatic “What if!?!” fantasies are laughable.

IMHO Bolton testifying is a trap....for Democrats.

I think he would do an Ollie North on steroids.

What is this about? Are they available to read for the public.

The airhead Marie Haft gave away the democrats new strategy this morning.
She said emphasis will be on winning back the Senate so that Trump, who will probably be re-elected, will be impeached again and then removed from office by a democrat Senate.
