Pelosi's Impeachment Gamble Fails – Here's What Going All In Could Cost Her And The Democrats
Fox News ^ | 2-2-2020 | Tom Brasile

What a difference a year makes. Last spring, Speaker Nancy Pelosi sounded an alarm of caution over a hyper-partisan impeachment. In the fall, she flipped her position to go all-in on an impeachment scenario that would pass the House with bipartisan opposition.

Her gleeful distribution of ceremonial pens heralded the cementing of a historical asterisk next to the presidency of Donald J. Trump. It was the culmination of a three-year spaghetti-throwing operation undertaken by Democrats to weaken the president and the Republican Party, if not overturn the 2016 election.

As the afterglow of her impeachment vote victory fades into history, Pelosi may well be left with an asterisk of her own – an indelible black mark on her career. And her comments over the last several weeks reflect the realization that again, she bet on the wrong strategy and lost.

Comments about the president being “impeached for life” or that he couldn’t possibly be acquitted by the Senate because “You can’t be acquitted if you don’t have a trial…” are telling. They are the empty if not irrational words of someone who probably knows her speakership is now in jeopardy because she failed to manage the radical impulses of her conference. Pelosi embraced a shallow impeachment scheme that rested on dubious legal arguments, hearsay evidence and bipartisan opposition.

Trump’s acquittal in the Senate means an energized Republican Party, reduced credibility for the speaker and a year of Democrat House control wasted on investigations that yielded nothing.

While Pelosi has tied up all her political capital on investigations and impeachment, Trump has continued to advance on a number of key issues, including jobs and the economy. It’s having an impact.

What gamble?? Everyone knew the last page before this started. Same crap as the Mueller escapade. Time and money ill spent.

$37 million for Mueller....so many positive things could have been done.

No....we had to make a whole bunch of DEM attorneys a little bit wealthier. You don't think they worked for free, do ya??

Hakeem Jeffries is scheming to take the Vile Botoxian’s place as Speaker or Minority Leader—when she retires or drops dead. If he doesn’t get what he wants, he will scream and yell and play the race card LOL.

Whatever money the stupid Rats spent on impeachment attorneys was a MASSIVE waste of money. But of course the Rats don’t care about wasting taxpayer money.

The gross incompetence of Schittforbrains and Lard@ss as lead House managers is undeniable. I would think there are more than a few House Rats who are PISSED about Nanzi’s choices for House managers and what a terrible job they did.

May she drink herself to death.

RE: Schiff lose his position on Intel committee

Yes, that would be in the power of Republican majority, and a likely outcome. Meanwhile, I hope McConnell would pass a rule in the Senate that would resolve no House impeachment would be acceptable unless 1) investigation fully authorized by the House; 2) abides by ALL standards of law for the accused; 3) includes concrete evidence of a serious crime.

Given a House Majority next year, it should become law. These wishy-washy “what was done last time” “standards” have been a big part of the problem.

Mueller was a definitive success in interfering with the 2018 elections. And interference it was, as he had the information to conclude there was no collusion for more than a year rather than waiting until after the election to release his lack of findings.

Dr. Drew is seriously considering a run against Schiff, Schiff could lose his seat now that would be delicious!!! Dr. Drew is very popular and with the horrible homeless situation in CA. and a wonderful divine intervention the voters could send Schiff packing!! I am PRAYING Dr. Drew decides to run!!!

“...personally I think rallying around the idea of EXPELLING From Congress Pelosi, Schiff, Nadler....”

With respect, that wouldn’t be a good strategy.

People want to see Congress do something that makes us safer and better off, and to otherwise stay the Hell out of our lives. So you promise to continue beefing up the military while (consistent with Trump’s promises) simultaneously saying that it is a last resort (but that its strength will have a deterrent effect, which is true); you talk about immigration reform - including finishing the Wall and ending birthright citizenship for the children of non-US citizens and residents; you talk about reducing regulations even further, cutting taxes even further, cheapening the price of fuel (which acts like another giant tax cut for the entire economy) by encouraging exploration; you promise to go after the Education-Industrial Complex, which has been effectively bankrupting the middle class and the taxpayer with its collusive pricing policies. THOSE are the things (not an exclusive list, of course) that you talk about. It MUST coordinate well with Trump’s plans, or the Party looks like the Keystone Kops.

With all due respect, the fundamental problem is not Pelosi, Schiff, Nadler, etc..., it's the degenerate electorate that puts those creatures into power through their actions.

I like where you’re going on this.

How’s this for a slogan: “Expel the Traitors. Vote Republican”

Does the GOP have the guts to use this? Probably not.

But DJT might. Much as I love reading his tweets, sometimes I think he doesn’t go far enough.

I was pleased to hear him describe Bernie as a communist in his Sunday interview with Sean Hannity.

But I’m waiting for him to use the “c-word” to describe other RATs.
