Just one look at the demands of the NYC subway protesters last week said it all; what started as a protest against rising fares eventually included a demand that no policemen are on the trains.
NYC is sh!thole where even the wealth 1%ers are one subway fare from dangerous crazies; the subway wouldn’t function at all without police providing a measure of security.
The fairs should increase again to pay for the damage from the freaks (gluing cards slots and such). The local media here has admitted that many people already evade the fares, and that police have been ordered to “stand down” in response (they no longer arrest/cite them).
No it's not because it includes the government sector. Now, defense, justice, protection of the rights and liberties of life and property are certainly worth a good deal - the difference between the 1st and 3rd world, that is not what goes on in government these days.
I watch outside my window as the DC government redoes a sewer system it just redid. While storm sewers are of positive value, this is just waste. Including this in GDP is to commit the broken glass fallacy.
I want to pose a question to the Democrats that goes like this: "Yeah, we concede that. He and his supporters are as bad as you say, and even worse, but answer us this. Before we turn over the power to you that you so richly deserve as our betters, we would like to know the answer to just one question - what do you want to DO?"
