“…people eat soup made from contaminated bats. Bats carry the virus but are not themselves infected by it.

The virus is communicated via respirated droplets. So how do you catch it from eating soup? Are people sucking it in to cool it off and aspirating droplets from the liquid? Blowing on it and spreading droplets in the room for others to breathe? Or some other mechanism linking the alimentary canal to the respiratory system?

Serious question for the virologists and microbiologists here.

Corona virus can infect via mucous membranes of the eyes, nose and mouth. Mucous membranes in genital and anal surfaces are also susceptible.
