So this gullible doofus took the impeachment seriously?

The sin is a minor one and the punishment is extreme.

Here’s the irony: Democrats could have gotten bipartisan support for a censure resolution but they rejected it.

All they’re left with is the political train wreck of a failed partisan impeachment attempt.

“High crimes and misdeamenors” You need facts, legal issues involved, and rules. Since there was no crime, there can be no facts of a crime, no legal issues, and no statutes broken. This was, indeed, a sham.

Why would withholding aid even be wrong? Its called exerting leverage. Everybody including presidents do it all the time in negotiations. Biden openly bragged about having done it to get the Ukranian prosecutor investigating Burisima fired.

"According to Alexander, the House impeachment team proved President Donald Trump withheld"

Oak Ridge Labs gets a lot of US Federal $$$. Close ties to Lawrence Livermore (Berkley). Looking for a post-retirement gig?

Prediction: Alexander endorses a Democrat to take his place in the upcoming election.

Collins and Romney voted for witnesses.

imho, Collins is naïve and thinks her fairness will be reciprocated. Never has been and never will by Dems.

imho, Romney,a BIG disappointment, is a rat. Glad he was disinvited to CPAC.

“Alexander said the House Democrats proved that correlation between the investigation and the military aid being withheld”

What investigation?

“I think it was a mistake ... I think he shouldn’t have done it,” Alexander explained.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

A Tennessee Country Club Republican protecting Biden, one of his elitist colleagues, a de facto noble class that Trump is rolling up like a rotten rug.Why in old f*ck shpould bthe Bidens get to roll in millions of dollars, by selling Joe’s office. That is corrupt on its face, and the President is obligated to investigate it. no more “elitist” looking the other way. Drain the swamp.

Good bye Lamar. Get away into retirement and “chut up.” Let the big boys run the show now. Finally adults are now in charge of our government.

If impeachment is the standard for political screwups and not crimes, why wasn’t Obama impeached?

Nothing here was a crime or rose to the level of an impeachable offense.

Indeed, Trump wasn’t even charged with a crime in either article of impeachment.

They should be rejected by the Senate.

Does Lamar! know that the funds were paid and there was no investigation started to prompt that?

GO AWAY! Lamar!

“I can buy the Democrat argument Trump shouldn’t have done it”

Get your head out between your buttocks.

What the hell is “it”?

Review the activities of the thieves we are giving money to, the money that we borrowed from China and our great grand children will be paying back?

The CORRUPTION is the first thing. Appropriate for our POTUS to ask about, and ask for help looking into facts.

That Sleepy Joe’s family was neck deep in self-enrichment is the after thought.

POTUS had some names of folks that had BRAGGED ON TV ABOUT CORRUPTING THE SYSTEM, and POTUS is supposed to look the other way?
Who do you think PDJT is, “Bush the Lesser”?

Roll MAGA, Roll!

There was no investigation of Biden ever announced or undertaken by the Ukrainians.

In fact, no quid pro quo was ever established by the Democrats.

Where’s the beef?

Seeking foreign aid against a political rival. I think it would be an inappropriate thing to do.

But it isn’t a crime and not even an impeachable offense. Stupidity or blockheadedness is a political sin.

The Democrats overreached.

“There was no investigation of Biden ever announced or undertaken by the Ukrainians.”

That’s what I thought. So how does this get believed or even stated unchallenged in this article:

“the House impeachment team proved President Donald Trump withheld more than $300 million in military aid to Ukraine as a means of forcing Ukrainian officials to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, “

“Where’s the beef?”

That’s from Alexander’s era. Maybe if Trump’s lawyers had said “where’s the beef” then Lamarr would have understood.

The correct attitude towards this BS impeachment is contempt. It doesn’t deserve to be taken seriously. That’s why Lamar comes off as a worm here. To publicly accept the premise of it is to stab the president in the back.

McConnell has played it exactly right, showing nothing but contempt the whole time.

Did that dumbass pay attention at all to the Presidents team? It wasn’t late! Thank God we will be rid of that moron! Now get rid of Collins, Mitt, Lindsey, Lee, and on the fence with McConnell ( great for judges, unless for the rest) and it would be a half decent Senate

I can understand people want to hear from witnesses. Fine.

It still doesn’t justify booting the President out of office.

Lamar is well known for setting on the fence and trying not to be against either side of the issue so not to offend voters on either side of the issue. I know he was sent a lot of communications for TN folks that he should not vote for witnesses; represent the people of TN.. that is what you were sent there to do... so do it for a change.

"I was reminded during the arguments of how the founders, James Madison particularly, felt there should never ever be a wholly partisan impeachment,” Alexander told USA Today.

This begs for a Constitutional amendment: we already require a 2/3rds majority to convict and remove an impeached President , but this sordid episode suggests that we should require at least a 3/5ths (if not 2/3rds) super-majority in the House just to bring charges in the first place.

That should put a stop to this nonsense.

(Yes - I realize that Clinton would not have been impeached under that standard, but he was never going to be convicted either)
