I do agree with that.

Soviet Russia was the same way.

Each of these Communist or even totalitarian governments have things to hide.

I think of Tiananmen Square. I know what this government is capable of. I wouldn’t be surprised by any story that would come out of there.

On the other hand, I’ve seen human nature at work too. Sometimes the public can be very un-reasoned.

Any of us who have had to deal with customers, or have watched how customers behave, understand that.

I live in a city of roughly 200,000 people. If we had a big epidemic come though, our hospitals would not be able to handle 25% of our populace contracting a disease.

A thinking person would realize there’s only so much a local or even national government can do in a situation like that, especially if the surrounding communities were also under the gun.

If it was a nationwide situation, it would be terrible.

None the less, you’d have people out there very angry because the government wasn’t handling it.

There’s only so much governments can do in the worst of situations.

I think part of this is the Chinese government’s fault, but I do thing the public can have unrealistic expectations too.

It’s just a real mess.

It sounds as if I’m trying to cover for the Chinese government here. I’m not really. I just try to think hour our nation wold handle this if all of a sudden in a few weeks, there were 20-30 thousand people needing hospitalization.

I know my community members would be enraged. I live in a community where a certain part of the populace is just very difficult to deal with. Good luck in an emergency.

Yep. The entire system is based on a “typical” day pretty much. Through in an earthquake, a hurricane or a pandemic and things can get rough for quite a long time.
