Republicans in the Senate secured enough votes Friday evening to reject Democratic efforts to extend the Trump impeachment trial and call new witnesses, as the final vote on whether or not to remove President Trump from office could drag into next week.

What reason is there to delay the end of this farce until Wednesday? He has two highly significant pulpits to engage prior to Wednesday, those being the Superbowl and the SOTU. They will not stomach allowing President Trump to point out that he was acquitted to those enormous audiences.
Many Republican Senators do not like President Trump, and that was stated only yesterday by a Republican Senator. While they may follow decorum on Tuesday, that is only for their own benefit.
Congress critters are mostly beholden to their own, and the smackdown President Trump could lay on the left would be epic, and they won't let that happen to their own brethren in those venues.
Personally, I doubt half of our Republican Senators like President Trump, and I don't believe it's difficult to understand why.
I just read that arrangements have been agreed upon, that the Impeachment will end on Wednesday morning.
This keeps the U. S. Senator Candidates for the Presidency out of the campaign until after the Tuesday election.
Looks like their conflict of interest has cost them.
I know that a lot of folks wanted to end this today. I believe that for all intents and purposes, it did. Now there are formalities.
I believe we are out of the woods. Lets hope so.
Right now Romney is the most hated Republican in the country.
I like your list, but, I think the verdict is still out on Bolton. I would like to replace Bolton with the Slimes.
What is this all about?

The Dems knew it was a loser and Mitch knew the Iowa caucus as well as the State of the Union was at hand. He probably decided to let 'em bark, since Trump's approval will go up but the Dem candidates will still be the Dem candidates when it's all over.
The smackdown is coming in November.
What ever, Adam Schiff. Believe what ever makes you feel better about yourself, LOL.
Juvenile much?
I see. You get caught being lazy and instead of just acknowledging it and moving on, you throw a big tantrum. Then you get caught being a HYPOCRITE and you try to blame the messenger.
And I’m the “juvenile”?
This topic is about the impeachment and whether it will end today or next week.
The other was a thread giving out information concerning an international medial situation regarding a deadly disease using non definitive terms.
You’ve already made it clear you can’t grasp why that might be problematic.
So be it.
Same here. While I would have liked to see Collins vote no, whit the way ME is politically and re-election I can understand why she did. Mittens had no excuse.
Martha MacCallum was asking the same thing on Fox News, and she was not getting a straight answer from her GOP guests.
She asked why everything is going to a delayed and chaotic "vote" now, when the rules were laid down so clearly?
The real reason, I believe, is that that Congress (both parties) don't want to give the President a "victory lap" over them during his State of the Union. They want him brought "to heel" - as Nadler said.
The more they try to defeat him, the stronger and taller he stands.
He will have a yooooge victory lap when he wins four more years!
It certainly looked like a WIN for our side, considering that all 47 Democrats, including one or two supposedly ‘conservative’ Democrats (as in Manchin, who some people here said would vote just like a Republican...idiots).
Feel free not to celebrate, but I sure will, and so will Trump!
I am thinking something wetter.
I doubt any Republican Senators will use all of their 10 minutes, and most will use no time at all especially if they conclude that the Democrats are deliberately trying to drag this out past Tuesday nights SOTU.
If only Democrats and a few others waste the 10 minutes - thats 8-10 hours, not 16.33.
Its possible this could be wrapped up Tuesday afternoon, giving President Trump another feather in his cap for the SOTU.
Okay Mitch, all is forgiven...
No he should have taken the other votes today and acquitted President Trump!! No the Democrats have three days to throw a wrench in everything.. Just like Brett M. Kavanaugh.
