With Iowa on the line, Biden bets on what he doesn't believe

WAUKEE, Iowa — Voters usually want to know what a presidential candidate believes. Joe Biden is defining himself to Iowa caucus-goers by what he doesn't believe.

"I do not believe we're the dark, angry nation that Donald Trump sees in his tweets," the former vice president said as he unveiled his stretch-run pitch in a school gym here Thursday morning.

"I don't believe we're the nation that rips babies from the arms of their mothers and thinks that's OK. I don't believe we're the nation that builds walls and whips up hysteria about an invasion of immigrants that's going to do terrible things to us. I do not believe we're the nation that embraces white supremacists and hatred, as he has done."

Finding himself at an unusual crossroad — the leading contender for the Democratic nomination in national polling but at risk of being hobbled by poor showings here Monday and in New Hampshire on Feb. 11 — Biden chose the day the president arrived for a rally in Des Moines to fully drape his candidacy in the theme that has more subtly animated him since he entered the race in April.

"I don't believe we're a nation that bows down to Vladimir Putin, and I will not," Biden said. "I do not believe we're a nation that sees a free press as the 'enemy of the people' — justifies — legally justified inquiries as 'witch hunts,' congressional oversight as a 'hoax.' I don't believe we're a nation that says fulfilling your oath of office is an option, an option. And I don't believe we're a nation that, in fact, looks at the Constitution and thinks it's OK to be laughed at, mocked or ignored."

Wow.

Trump literally sees a brighter future that has dramatically improved since the Obama/Biden administration where jobs were scarce and horrible, race relations were demolished and cops were being murdered in the street because he encouraged hatred of “others”.

He literally was the Vice President for an administration that “ripped” 30,000 children from their mother’s arms. What is he thinking? He wants the truth to come out? Wow. Making these kinds of insane statements show just how desperate he is. When you have marches of 10,000 people who say they’re going to break in, no matter what, that’s an invasion. Sorry, Slow Joe, but you don’t get to lie like that. And to lie and claim Trump’s embracing white supremacists is just a flat out lie and you know it. He’s denounced white supremacists at every turn, and you still use the same tired lie. Insanity at its worst.

Really? What was it that gives you that lie, Joe? Did he tell Vladimir that he’d be more flexible after the election? Or was it the killing of 200 Russian soldiers in Syria after telling them to get out or they’d die? Or was it crippling their economy by pressuring and succeeding in getting our “allies” (and with allies like these, who needs enemies?) to stop buying oil and LNG from Russia? Or was it his putting massive sanctions on Russian oligarchs who violated our laws? What tells you that? His refusal to start an international incident with Putin by slapping him in the face with the “gotcha” question by the press? Or him saying he had no reason at the time to not believe Vladimir versus the 17 intelligence agencies who actively tried to frame him and entrap him? Wow.

Slow Joe, you’ve missed the blatant leaks of classified material at every turn to try to harm Trump? Or the crazed insane impeachment where literally there was no evidence of wrongdoing and yet, somehow he was impeached anyway on one of the most blatant naked power grabs ever? And he doesn’t believe the Constitution can be laughed at, mocked or ignored, despite your insane rantings. You need to go ahead and realize you can’t be in public anymore, and just retire. Your wife and children haven’t got the courage to take away your keys yet, and you’re about to slam the family car into a minivan carrying a family of 6 because you’re too insistent that you can do it. Your brain is gone.
