I agree with you re: Kafkaesque.

But I kind of enjoy the ‘curse’ of living in ‘interesting’ times.

Interesting times have often been when things began to radically change and to spiral upward.

“INTERESTING” has many different meanings...both good and bad.
And I’m a bit leery, re your prognostication of an upswing. Just when I think that things can’t get any worse, they usually do. But IF, come November, we get the House, keep ( get a larger majority in it ), and the White House, things might begin to get much better.

Alternatively, interesting times have often bee when things began to
radically change and to spiral out-of-control.

(e.g. French Revolution, Russian Revolution, Cromwell's Revolution)
