The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Thursday that it has confirmed the first case of the coronavirus spreading from one person to another in the United States.
CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield told reporters Thursday that the latest case is the second reported in Chicago and is the spouse of the person who was the first to be diagnosed in the city. Still, Redfield said, the immediate risk of the virus to the public is low.

That's the problem. It appears to be highly contagious, like a cold, and it is likely to mutate rapidly, like the cold viruses, but unlike a cold the coronavirus causes very serious, and sometimes fatal consequences.
Published descriptions of the virus indicate that significant numbers of people who are exposed to it require extensive medical care, and even with that care significant numbers of them die. That is why the Chinese government has taken many steps to fight back against further transmission of the virus, and other nations are doing so as well.
One way to gauge the risk of anything is to observe what people with first hand knowledge are doing. Take a look at what is happening in Wuhan. And then ask yourself - would they all be doing that for nothing?
He is saying the number of people that die from flu at 50,000 is 11X greater than the number of people that die from the common cold at 4,500.

This is bad situation now and nothing is done but more infected Chinese flooding our hospitals soon then us stuck behind them in line .
They’re talking about it like it’s the worst plague the world has ever seen.
(Reminds me of like watching the weather channel website, where every day of the week they feature apocalyptic storms and Noah’s flood.)
Meanwhile, we already have worse seasonal infections, causing thousands of deaths, in our country every single year.
Let me ask you this. If you saw the plague starting in China in the 13th century, and you were living in London...what would you say? Would you pay attention? Would you prepare?
The fatality factor on this is 2%. The fatality factor for the flu is 0.92%. That .0092 vs .0214. If you saw that fifty miles down the road, wouldn’t you pay attention to it? Just think about what you might do if it doesn’t turn?
We need to remember that this bug was identified just over a month ago. That’s a really short amount of time.
There’s plenty of time for doomsday to get into high gear. ;>)
I think that is the piece of information you have wrong. The chart below, supposedly from the NY Times, shows various infections and their transmissivity and fatality rates.
If the coronavirus ends up having a fatality rate at the higher end of the range, or even at the midpoint of its expected range, that will cause significant suffering and disruption in the world.
What is it about the media that the more they lie, the more some people believe them?
What is it you think they are lying about?
And your point is what? Are you saying that the data presented in the graph from the New York Times is false? If so how about telling "some people" what number on that graph is wrong, with a source.
You can believe whatever you want, but if you think that the situation with the novel coronavirus is just like a typical seasonal flu virus then you are unfortunately misinformed. Do you think that people in Wuhan don't also get the flu? And do you think that the local doctors, government officials, etc. are simply irrationally responding to a disease that from your point of view is no more dangerous than the typical seasonal flu?
The biggest bang the deep state (and the Chinese) can get out of making a disease sound scarier than it is, in my opinion, is the same list of objectives they always and ever seek from their fear mongering.
In this case, the benefits also include pharmaceutical and medical supply profits.
That they care.
And that they’re not working for and with the deep state.
So this coronavirus made the deep state, the media and the establishment suddenly give up on their previous lifelong pursuit, and take up the complete opposite? And now they want to look after our health?
I think they are more interested in generating drama. Look for update clocks on the rolling banner...like a stock ticker.

The media is a bunch of hucksters. I do believe that the health service is staffed at the ground level consists of some pretty good people.
You have to rely on your own ability to educate your self. That way you can cut through the BS.
