First Person-to-Person Transmission of Coronavirus Confirmed in United States. Patient had not traveled to China.
Epoch Times ^ | 01/30/2020 | Zachary Stieber

The first case of a person contracting the novel (new) coronavirus from another person in the United States was confirmed on Jan. 30.

The patient, who has not traveled to China, is a Chicago resident and is the spouse of the first confirmed travel-related case in Illinois. That patient was a woman in her 60s who returned from Wuhan on Jan. 13.

Both patients are isolated and are in stable condition.

The first patient is isolated at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Officials declined to say where the second patient is being treated. “This person-to-person spread was between two very close contacts, a wife and husband,” Ngozi Ezike, the director of the Illinois Department of Public Health, told reporters on a phone call. “The virus is not spreading widely across the community.”

Authorities are not recommending people take precautions like canceling activities or not going out.

“It’s important to note that this spread was among two people who were in close contact for an extended period of time,” Nancy Messonnier, director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases.

Messonnier said health officials expect to see more cases in the United States, which will raise the risk of the virus passing among people.

Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said that questions remain about the virus, telling reporters: “At this time, it’s unclear how easily or sustainably this virus is spreading between people.”

People who recently returned to the United States from China should call their healthcare provider if they develop symptoms, officials said. Earlier Thursday, Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar said that the Trump administration is not imposing any travel restrictions.

People mean well, but they get off track.

That’s about all you can say.

It would seem to me to be very likely that they are picking up bodies at private residence

Yes, that is an uncertain number and quite plausible in Communist China. But I think evidence of that would eventually get out.

"Oh, but the epidemiologists of FR say this is nothing to worry about, no big deal, overblown."

This case does nothing to dispute that. It's the spouse of someone that got it in China, and that was already under observation. When it's spreading amongst people in the wild is when you need to worry.

I’ve seen some of them.

In one video I was watching, there seemed to be gunfire in the background, off camera.

Couldn’t help but wonder what was up with that.

I’m not talking about one or two shots either. It was a stead single shot sound topping at least a 10-15 count.

https://www.lshtm.ac.uk/newsevents/news/2020/how-effective-thermal-scanning-airports

Thermal scanning at airports detects less than 1 in 5 passengers arriving from a 12 hour flight who are infected with the new coronavirus, according to preliminary estimates from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).

SARS took two years to reach those numbers. CV took two months.

Flu goes from thousands of cases to millions of cases in about two months.

RE: In 2003, a total of 8,096 people in 29 countries got SARS and 774 of them died.Only eight people in the United States got SARS. None of them died.

OK, compare that with what we have seen so far after 4 weeks:

SEE HERE:

https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6

In 2020, We have had worldwide, 8,235 KNOWN cases of The Novel Coronavirus. This has spread so far to 22 countries.

Of these, 8,124 are in China. 171 have died and 143 have recovered.

We have 6 known cases in the USA thus far (one via person to person transmission from a spouse). There are no deaths (yet).

No one has died (yet) outside China.

My conclusion -— This particular Coronavirus is spreading FASTER than SARS.

I would agree with that.

It does bring to question the methods used to identify and quantify with each disease.

Was China as geared up to identify and quantify the affected popullation base back then? If they are more on top of things now, they may be identifying more people simply because they are functioning on a higher level.

if you’re swapping spit with your infected wife, yeah, you’re gonna get sick - like any other disease So the headline is a bit misleading.

But apparently they don’t recommend any restrictions to travel or trade at this time.

Authorities are not recommending people take precautions like canceling activities or not going out.

I just bought my wife bottles of Vitamin C and Zinc.

I've been taking megadoses of vitamins and minerals for decades. I'm one of those picky eaters you may have heard about with a vast list of vegetables that do not exist in my reality.

I credit daily Lecithin capsules for my lack of heart problems compared to all of my relatives and my cardiologist agreed that it possibly helped. My cardiologist gave me a clean bill of health and told me to come back if I ever had a symptom.
