Just dont put Bill Gates on it. Lol.
Compare the numbers coming from China with the actions of the Chinese government and other governments. Compare those actions with actions against flu epidemics.
Do you see?
Heard around the web that it’s too late to call it the “Kung Flu.”
“In the study, published today (Jan. 29) in the journal The Lancet, the researchers analyzed 10 genome sequences of the novel coronavirus, dubbed 2019-nCoV, obtained from nine patients in China who were sick with the virus.
“They found that all 10 of the genome sequences were extremely similar they shared more than 99.98% of the same genetic sequence, the authors said. This suggests the virus made its “jump” to humans very recently...the researchers compared the 2019-nCoV genetic sequence with those in a library of viral sequences, and found that the most closely related viruses were two coronaviruses that originated in bats; both of those coronaviruses shared 88% of their genetic sequence with that of 2019-nCoV. (When compared with two other coronaviruses known to infect people SARS and MERS 2019-nCoV shared about 79% of its genetic sequence with SARS and 50% with MERS.)
note in the comment: “ But coronaviruses can’t live in cold-blooded animals.” (i.e., snakes)
[note: this data, 88% bat coronavirus, is in conflict with China’s initial claim that the coronavirus is 96% bat but don’t know the significance of that. But the 99.98% sequence similarity should be a marker for mutation rate of virus in more recent patients]

Random snippits re: Britain/Australia:
The UK government still has difficult issues to negotiate with the Chinese authorities over a flight to evacuate British nationals from Wuhan, the city at the centre of the coronavirus outbreak, a minister has said.
The Foreign Office has said the flight will not now take place on Thursday as the government had hoped.
Nick Gibb, the School Standards Minister, told Sky News
There are some difficult issues that are being negotiated at very senior levels between the British Government and the Chinese government.
@DHSCgovuk UPDATE on #coronavirus testing in the UK: As of 2pm on Wednesday 29 January 2020, a total of 130 tests have concluded: 130 were confirmed negative 0 positive
Its being reported that Australians wanting to leave Wuhan will need to pay $1,000 to board the Qantas flight that is being chartered to get them out. The Sydney Morning Herald reports evacuees will have to pay the fee and sign a waiver
The Australian government has said Australian citizens who are in China but who are already sick with a confirmed or suspected case of coronavirus will not be flown out.
update from the chief health officer in the Australian state of New South Wales, where there are currently four confirmed cases of the virus. Kerry Chant said that two of the four were now well and were discharged from hospital yesterday. They have no symptoms. Two others remain in a stable condition
[sad] A Hong Kong taxi driver uses cardboard to try and create a shield from his passengers and wears gloves to protect himself from coronavirus.
I am beginning to have my suspicions as to why China will not let foreign nationals who are infected leave.
I doubt it has much to do with concerns over public health.
better rethink that as this may well not be a naturally occurring virus, but an escaped bio-weapon from the covert bio-weapons Level 4 facility in Wuhan.
more on Japan flights (there have been 2 now):
Three Japanese who returned from Wuhan on a government-chartered flight have tested positive for the new coronavirus, the health ministry said Thursday as more Japanese evacuees from the Chinese city arrived in Tokyo.
The three one in stable condition and two without symptoms were among 206 people brought back Wednesday from Wuhan amid a deadly outbreak started by the pneumonia-causing virus.
It is the first time that a person outside of China without symptoms has been confirmed to be infected with the virus, according to Japans National Institute of Infectious Diseases.
A further 210 Japanese were flown back home on Thursday on a second government-chartered flight, with some displaying symptoms such as coughs, according to the health ministry.
In the first group of returnees, all but two people agreed to tests for the virus. All passengers other than the three tested negative for the virus, the ministry said.

NOTE: the Japanese govt said they do not have the legal authority to force the two to test but they will be monitored
A Japanese official says 13 of 210 evacuees who returned from the virus-hit Chinese city of Wuhan to Tokyo had cough, fever or other health issues and are expected to be sent to designated hospitals.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga says Japan is negotiating to evacuate some 300 more citizens and their families from Wuhan as early as Thursday.
Shigeru Omi, the former regional director for the World Health Organization who now heads Japan Community Health Care Organization, said that two evacuees who tested positive for the virus without showing any symptoms could have spread the disease further. He urged Japanese health authorities to step up surveillance measures based on that assumption.

NOTE: the above from china post is only being carried by a site called on forex - so it may be govt rumor. What we do know is about 400 of the Japanese being repatriated worked at a supermarket in Yuhan that refused to close so that ppl could get groceries. And that Japan is planning a 3rd flight to get the last of their ppl.
I’m not sure if it’s China or if the other nations just don’t want to risk having infected on the plane with those who are not infected.
Also, if ppl are dual citizens, China doesn’t recognize dual citizenship, especially if the person entered the country on a Chinese passport. Not all countries (England for example) have consulates in China, so having to deal with little napoleons - it’s a diplomatic nightmare.
American flight at March Field:
None of the 195 passengers who returned to the U.S. on Wednesday after escaping the coronavirus outbreak in China have shown signs of infection, but they will remain under observation for up to three days as they get screened, a CDC official said...Messonnier said the number of confirmed cases in the U.S. remains steady at five, out of 165 persons under investigation. Of those, 68 have tested negative and the rest are awaiting results.
Authorities said the evacuees are isolated from military personnel on base. Authorities were quick to say that the passengers are not under a federal quarantine order...For at least the next three days, they will be monitored twice a day for fever and other symptoms..”When they leave and go to their home states, at least twice a day someone from public health will contact them”....a number of people did not have the right documentation to enter the United States. Some others ... did not show up. There was one person who had a fever who was not allowed to board,” Braden said.

Need to nuke us too - Flu has killed about 50 time as many as this virus so far...
There’s a claim that researchers in Hong Kong say the number of infections is doubling every 6.2 days, or roughly doubling every week.
At that rate, the number of cases will be around 40 million by early April.
We’ll see.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJr5ZeHIe_M roughly 9 minutes in.
They have to understand the numbers. The apparent death rate (per WHO and others) is about 2 percent. But the thing that I call the real mortality rate (number dead vs. number who have already beaten it), as presented by other FReepers, is over 50%. Hopefully, that will be much lower in the States.
Bingo
And they never will .
That said, NOT everyone is dying within 3 days of exposure. That's something.
“Hopefully, that will be much lower in the States.”
Until we run out of ICU beds. Then, probably not much different.
For at least a “million” (not plural), you’d need abut 2800-2900 flights PER DAY to get that many in here in 1 day, assuming 350 passengers.
Just how many come in per day from all over the world? And just how many of those indirect non-China flights are going to be full of Chinese?
