Perhaps he was kicking the driver in the head and jamming his foot on the accelerator..

Anything’s possible, but interesting image: One foot high enough to kick head (presumably the left foot, him being in the passenger seat), the other low, placed on the accelerator. How tall, and long-legged was the perp? And what, in the middle, is exposed, ripe for a good punch?
