Trump rages at Bolton, says former adviser would have caused 'World War Six'
NBC News ^ | February 29, 2020 | Allan Smith

President Donald Trump berated his former national security adviser John Bolton on Wednesday, bashing his former top aide after the aide reportedly contradicted a key element of the president's impeachment defense in an upcoming book.

Trump went as far to suggest that if Bolton, a conservative war hawk, were still in the White House, the U.S. "would be in World War Six by now."

Those comments came hours after another tweet in which Trump asked: "Why didn't John Bolton complain about this 'nonsense' a long time ago, when he was very publicly terminated."

I did not think it was a bad choice at the time, but I had this hunch at the same time about Bolton.

Why? Because he was a Bush insider. He and Dick Cheney are of the same cloth.

“So sad that this scumbag holds Trump’s presidency in his hands and the American people hostage.”

Take heart - President Trump did nothing wrong - so don’t sweat it.

Bolton worked for both Reagan and Bush. Trump is playing the media.

Bolton knew he wasn’t going to get approved for the UN job cuz the Dems held the Senate. John resigned.

Like I said on another thread:

World War I: French and Indian War/7 Years War: 1756-63

World War II: Napoleonic Wars: 1801-1812

World War III: 1914-18

World War IV: 1937-45

World War V: Cold War: 1947-1991

World War VI: What Bolton wanted to get us started on.

That’s exactly what is going on. Trump is feeding the press.

The leaked comments supposedly from Bolton’s manuscript seem to be consistent with the known policy conflict between him and the President. Bolton seems strongly inclined to nuke all “autocrats”, and Trump has a carrot/stick, win-win, approach. Bolton would consider Trump’s approach reckless appeasement, but would most of the rest of us? Would the Democrats? How about President $150-billion-of-appeasement Obama?

At any rate, the difference is one of policy, not one of criminality or moral turpitude. Nothing burger.

“Probably one in every three Freepers are pro-Bolton (at least before this episode).”

I’m actually going to wait and see how all this plays out. We still don’t know what Bolton actually said in his manuscript or what he would say in Senate testimony.

I’m sure he is a bit of a hothead
I’m sure he has an inflated ego and thinks he’s God’s gift
I’m sure he is way more hawkish than most
I’m sure he doesn’t mind stirring up publicity for his book
I’m sure he is butt-hurt that he got fired and his expert advice got ignored

But even after this latest story, he strikes me more as an over-zealous patriot who means well, rather than a deep state traitor.

I’m still not convinced yet that he would help the Democrats overturn an election...

I’m pretty sure he hates the weak-kneed, enemy-appeasing, apology tour Democrats even more than he supposedly hates President Trump.

As for him winding up with Kelly on CNN or MSNBC - I really doubt that - aside from hoping his testimony can hurt the President, there is nothing John Bolton would have to say about foreign policy and national security that would fit any of their narratives.

Well folks, this is beyond hilarious. Bolton tried to take his revenge but you know no one is going to succeed in that when up against the Galactic Master Troll of the Milky Way.

President Trump really crammed it, hard on “national security.” Ouch!

"I’m actually going to wait and see how all this plays out. "

I think the President has survived this long by learning how to manipulate the LMSM.

Did he get fired our did he resign? I’ve heard both. Trump says he fired him, the media like Hannity and Rush say he resigned. Which is it?

“Bolton went in thinking Trump was dumb”

And if that’s true, Bolton hasn’t been paying attention for years. Since the ‘80s, Trump has been observing and commenting loudly on global and political issues.

The Swamp is vast and deep. It’s not easy to find out who is who. I dont think he realized that plenty of Repubicans are Swamp as well. It truly is DeepStateSwamp vs. patriots.

Trump is maybe not the best at hiring people but he is pretty damn good at firing them. Which is a greater strength?

I won’t be surprised if it comes out soon that he has TAPES recording the President. Yeah, he would do that to help his book.

It should be a law that any cabinet member be banned from writing a book while that President is serving or up for re-election and then 1 year after.

“... My take is Trump wants people from different backgrounds and point of views to present their case. Bolton expected Trump to agree with him...”
.
.
Yes, I have heard his supporters say Trump likes different points of view and will listen to all sides and then make up his own mind. Also, I think he saw Bolton on TV and he is tough and strong and Trump likes that. Many people respected Bolton. Boy, though, this is one I really can’t understand just from the standpoint I thought Bolton had more respect for the office of the presidency.

It was mentioned that Trump doesn’t just fire you, sometimes he kicks you on the way out the door. So there’s that and Bolton is proud.

Also, I heard this general I’m sorry I can’t remember his name, talking to Tucker a couple nights ago, and he said Bolton did untold damage while he was in the White House. That was chilling.

But in general, Trump won’t say anything unless provoked, and had Bolton kept his mouth shut, then Trump would have, as well.
