By the way, regarding Normalcy Bias, you either don’t know the definition of the term, or how to apply it.
“The normalcy bias, or normality bias, is a belief people hold when there is a possibility of a disaster. It causes people to underestimate both the likelihood of a disaster and its possible effects, because people believe that things will always function the way things normally have functioned.”
Check my posting history for last Sunday - so far, and still, I am the ONLY person here who’s brought up the idea of actually PREPARING for the possibility of Coronavirus becoming a 1918-type flu epidemic. And yes, I was attacked by people with Normalcy Bias telling me that ‘it could never spread here’, ‘government will take care of us’, ‘it won’t be any worse than the common cold’, etc.
So you have the wrong person for that.
I could go on about how Normalcy Bias underlies the thinking of NeverTrumpers, many Democrats (those who live otherwise conservative lives), most immigrants here, and yes, people who think there’s ‘no difference between the parties’ (when they don’t get perfection from a given Republican), or at least say that (perhaps trolling) - some RIGHT HERE.
Actually, it did. Google “How West Virginia became a state.”
Do you have a source link? Thx
Thanks but no thanks.
FYI. I live in Virginia but am a transplant from New Jersey.
When I first moved here, I was astonished to hear the things that Virginians say about folks from WV. Really offensive stuff.
Here you go:
Just Biden beating Trump, but his days are numbered. Unfortunately they don’t like the most likely nominee, Skunk Cabbage.
Without making the jump to the rest of the article, the governor’s quote seems to me like he’s inviting Virginians to move to his state, not ally their current homes to his state via secession.
Meanwhile Barack Obama stoked the fires of the Hawaiian secessionist movement without journalist rebuke and a hell of a lot of Democrats said that California should secede after Trump won.
I question the media narrative and headline.
Absolutely.... Eastern Washington & Oregon
are both overwhelmingly conservative. A democrat hasn’t been elected for a major political office for almost four decades.
Tri-Cities. Pasco, Kennewick & Richland.
Can’t be done under the Constitution.
It’s troubling that we have a governor who apparently does not know this.
All the discussion seems to point to counties separating from liberal Virginia and joining up with WVa. A period of secession by counties and realignment may be the ticket to the eventual division that’ll be necessary to separate the remaining American regions from the hardcore liberal enclaves. This country will not survive as a 50-state entity and must find a way to amicably divide.
You need to travel to WV and see for yourself!
Born & raised in WV, lived in NoVa for almost 40 years now back in WV!
NoVa sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The rest of Va could comfortably be in WV.
Won’t happen if they have GOP committeeman like this;

Absolutely 100% true......a damned shame, but true nonetheless.
Hmm....it doesn’t look like proper quorum, nor does it look like Virginia’s Constitution of 1851 was followed nor properly abrogated. I’m sure SCOTUS and all disagreed with me on that, but it was nowhere near as clean as a land swap as the more recent Red River Compact, duly adopted by the legislatures of TX, OK, and the US Congress.
Maybe it’s time to divide into 100 states. Rural and urban states will get their voice.
I believe parts of states should change to other states... Upstate NY would be better with middle Pennsylvania.
After the Civil War Virginia sued claiming pretty much what you said. Went to the Supreme Court, Court ruled against them.
