U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) says its officers seized $900,000 in counterfeit money from the International Falls Port of Entry.
The agency says the counterfeit money was found in a commercial rail shipment that originated in China.
Officers found 45 cartons of counterfeit $1 bills with a fake value of $900,000 last month during a customs inspection. The Secret Service was contacted and determined the currency was counterfeit.
“CBP officers strive every day to protect the United States from a variety of threats,” said Jason Schmelz, Pembina Area Port Director. “Those threats don’t always come in the form of terrorists or narcotics, but also in the form of counterfeit currency and other goods that have the potential to harm the economy of the United States. Thanks to the dedication of our officers and our partnership with the Secret Service, we were able to keep this currency from entering into circulation.”

Years ago when I got my Zimbabwe 100 trillion dollar note set I worried it might be counterfeit but then I reasoned it wouldn’t be worth much less if it was.

Smart counterfeiters.
Nobody checks them or looks at them closely.
I just read some guys were counterfeiting 100 dollar bills and got caught. Every clerk is going to look at them closely and use the magic marker test on them.
And a sample stuck on the outside of one of the boxes....

Was easy to tell, they had Hillary’s picture on them, were dated 2016, and had the wordplay of “I ONE” on them.
A twenty or over gets checked. The tens and fives have the strip in them. Ones are easy to pass, never checked and a lot of them could be on the market before they got wise.

flooding the money supply with enough counterfeit $1 bills would be a nearly undiscoverable way of destabilizing the economy.
