There’s really no upside for the Democrats in this.

You guys are fooling yourselves. The dems will get their witnesses, Trumps will get none of the ones he wants. This was baked in even before September. That is why the senate has not held a single hearing on any of this. In both the Nixon and Clinton impeachments, the senate was holding hearings in parallel with the house impeachment investigation. Ask yourself why that is.
