Supplemented my retirement income for several years up here with dredge gold mining, made several thousand a year until the asshats in Sacramento shut us down.
Still lots of gold in the creeks and streams, just getting to old to get it the hard way; shovel, pan, or highbanker.
I am thinking of metal detectors now, once a gold miner - always a gold miner.
I hadn’t planned on doing that sort of thing, but it might be fun. I love goofing around near creeks and rivers.
I’ve looked at panning in the past. It might be fund just to try it a few times.
Question:
If I find a rock in a stream,
and it looks like it might have gold in it,
how do I determine if it really is gold?
I toured the Bohemian gold mines in Oregon last summer. The state of Oregon is trying to shut down gold mining in Oregon also.
