Why would the DNC appoint anyone to a position of prominence who is affiliated with a jerk who sanctimoniously sits in the U.S. Senate as an independent, then registers as a Democrat every four or eight years to run for the party’s nomination for President?

I am sure the leaders and key financial backers of the Democratic Party view it as “their” party—and view Sanders as trying to steal “their” nomination.
“Democracy” is just talking points for the bow tied professors on CSPAN—the real party lives in the trenches where deals get done and nominees get picked.
