-- Any ruling by the chair can be overturned by a majority vote. --

True that. It's basically "the Senate" sitting as a trial court. The senators are jury, judges, and advocates for one side or the other. They will do what is politically expedient, every time. Good thing conviction requires 2/3rds.

The Senate voted against an amendment that would require the Chief Justice of the United States to rule on motions to subpoena witnesses and documents.

S.Amdt.1294 to S.Res.483

Not only that but the WH has said that, if the Senate votes to subpoena witnesses, they will block them from testifying.

And the Senate will be paralyzed, unable to conduct business for months or years.

Let’s see what happens when GOP senators vote to appear “fair” to political opponents who hate them.

Bring it on!!!

But it is only 2/3 of those voting.

So as with the vote to end slavery in England... Send one side off to the race tracks for the day, and the vote is done before they get back.

So attendance, attendance, attendance !
