And the Senate will be paralyzed, unable to conduct business for months or years.

That's what the DEMs are hoping for. They will call it a cover up, they will say the evidence is damaging so it is just a matter of time before the truth comes out.

They are going to make that argument no matter what. It's a diversion from the correct framing of the case.

That's not true. The trial is suspended if new evidence is called for. The senate goes about business as usual, and a committee goes after the new evidence. This was done in Clinton impeachment. Trial was bifurcated, with a couple weeks between trial parts and the Senate doing routine.

I think the better argument is that if the senate picks up the House's dirty work, then impeachment without due process (which is trivially easy to do) becomes more common. The House will send over article after article. The new normal. Why should the House make a case if the senate will do the work?
