WASHINGTON President Donald Trumps campaign is considering only participating in general election debates if an outside firm serves as the host, and his advisers recently sat down with the nonprofit Commission on Presidential Debates to complain about the debates it hosted in 2016.
The Dec. 19 meeting between Frank Fahrenkopf, a prominent Republican and co-chairman of the commission; Brad Parscale, campaign manager for Trumps reelection effort; and another political adviser, Michael Glassner, came soon after Trump posted on Twitter that the 2016 debates had been biased.

Gaining votes among Independents and blue collar traditional voting democrats, and continuing to demonstrate how crooked the national media is.
“He’s bluffing. “
Trump doesn’t bluff. He ‘negotiates’.
What primary debates would Trump be in? He’s running unopposed. So he will debate poor old Joe in the general election I guess.
How did these events get to be called debates? They are nothing of the sort! It is more like a shooting gallery
with those on stage the targets of Biased shooters! A waste of everyone’s time.
I would say that was a microscopic part.
The president won because he was the only Nationalist focused on securing the borders
I will concede your point when Trump fails to debate the Dem candidate, which Means I will never have to concede your point. Trump is negotiating, but he will never not debate the democrat candidate. It doesnt really matter what the moderator wants to accomplish if Trump is on the stage.
So simple!
Two moderators per debate. One chosen by each campaign.
That is as fair as it gets.
Jim Lehrer? I believe he passed away this week.
Of course ... and the demokrap candidate would never agree, and be lauded for the refusal.
With media saturation today, the idea of a “debate” may no longer serve a purpose, especially since everyone knows it is the GOP candidate debating the everyone else on the stage.
Perfect!
Add Victor Davis Hanson.
I think Tucker Carlson would be a great, unbiased moderator. I would also like to see John Solomon moderate a debate. He is always well versed in the details of the issue.
He'd waste too much time with his "Umm.. uhh.. the.. the.."
Or, he'd filibuster with his long-winded answers to simple questions and run out of time. Then he'd harrumph and sigh throughout his opponent's remaining time.

There won’t be any “Durham Report”. He is conducting criminal investigations, not internal audits as an Inspector General does.
As you said, there better be some arrests, indictments, etc. happening soon. Real soon...
VDH — wouldn’t he be something? He absolutely belongs on the list!
All these learned conservatives who really know how to be MCs and lead stimulating discussion. The current format has stunk for decades.
I agree on Hannity and Jesse Watters but have severe qualms about Tucker, who has tended to be rather Never-Trumperish or at least overly critical of our POTUS.
Greg Gutfeld definitely would provide a unique perspective as well as add some entertainment value.
Tyrus, I’m not so sure.
Excellent post.
I totally concur with your assessment of “news anchors.”
