Trump May Skip Debates, or Seek New Host, if Process Isn't 'Fair'

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump’s campaign is considering only participating in general election debates if an outside firm serves as the host, and his advisers recently sat down with the nonprofit Commission on Presidential Debates to complain about the debates it hosted in 2016.

The Dec. 19 meeting between Frank Fahrenkopf, a prominent Republican and co-chairman of the commission; Brad Parscale, campaign manager for Trump’s reelection effort; and another political adviser, Michael Glassner, came soon after Trump posted on Twitter that the 2016 debates had been “biased.

I agree that they’re all smart and capable people. They sure would not be seen as unbiased. Catherine Herridge? I’m thinking more of people who keep their cards close to the chest - not obvious about their love for the president, and certainly not part of the hate group.

WHY ARE DEMOCRATS ALWAYS HOSTING REPUBLICAN DEBATES???

It is obvious. The media hosts the debates and the media are part of the DNC.

Almost every question in the 2016 debates (including Faux News) came with spin. In fact, I have never witnessed debates where almost every journalist asking the questions framed the questions with talking points for the left.

Furthermore, it is unlikely that any of the questions to the democrat would point out or be prefaced with any success of the Trump administration.

With that said, Trump kills it in debates and he is practicing every day as I have never seen a President take more questions off the cuff from reporters (who despise him by the way).

I get what Parscale is trying to do and understand why, but Trump will be at the debates as that is where he scored the most points in 2016 speaking directly to voters without the media spin.

They are likely just trying to preemptively put the media on notice that they will call them out immediately for the crap they pulled in 2016. I have been super-impressed with Parscale so far!

“Trump doesn’t need to do debates just do his rallies WHY IN THE HELL would you debate these idiot socialists!!!”

because it’s essentially the one and only opportunity that President Trump would have to expose the massive deficiencies of his opponent on live TV before a national audience ...

Ifill was a HUGE obama homer.

She moderated the VP debate with plugs and Palin. She had a big financial interest in 0 winning the election in a book she wrote. She was approached by several entities and asked to withdraw as the moderator due to financial conflict of interest concerns but she wanted nothing to do with that.<

Ifill was all about race and the Benjamins.

Great post. Just my kind of thing.

I think for anyone to be qualified to disagree with you they should have a signup date on FR earlier than yours.

Crowley fact-checked Romney when he wrongly claimed it took Obama 14 days to call an attack in Benghazi, Libya, an “act of terror.”

Pfffttt...

It’s about time we had a debate co-moderated by Rush Limbaugh, Don Bongino, Mark Levin, Cheryl Atkisson, Michelle Malkin and Mark Steyn.

Agreed. However whom ever is selected as moderators, and what network gets it it makes no difference.
Trump will take them All Out with no problem. I reference any 2016 Republican, and Presidential debate. Its also great television, and highly entertaining. Trump. The greatest insult comic since Don Rickles! MAGA
