The Democrats' Cognitive Disorder
American Thinker ^ | Jan 25, 2020 | Clarice Feldman

Posted on 01/26/2020 5:28:29 AM PST by upchuck

I do not trust emotional reactions to events. In my experience, visceral reactions are a poor guide to action, and when I recognize that I’m responding emotionally to events, I step back and consider what facts are better brought to bear on the issue than are my immediate feelings. In fact, I’m not alone in thinking emotional reasoning is a kind of cognitive disorder.

Watching the impeachment theater (or rather reading about it to save time and avoid being influenced by the hypnotic effect of television) I’ve concluded that the congressional Democrats and their base live in a postfactual “inner child” world of fact-free enthusiasms and conniption fits. In their world, a Republican president they cannot manipulate to their will must be impeached and removed from office... That words are not entitled to their clear and normal meanings but can be restated fraudulently to fit the removal goal. That Congress, not the President, can determine what constitutes executive privilege. That witnesses with no direct knowledge can impute whatever meaning they choose into the events and such hearsay and mind readings must be credited. That the House that decides whether to institute impeachment proceedings can, claiming urgency, speed through them in secret, deny the president the right to a defense and can keep hidden from him and his defenders evidence which totally exculpates him. That having expedited a star chamber proceeding, the Democratic House can then demand the right to drag out the process in the Senate under rules they, not the Senate, set. In sum, that none of the long-established guides to evidence and fairness and constitutional protections should be followed when Democrats have a multiyear temper tantrum because they lost status and power.

Democrats have no case. Any decent prosecutor would be embarrassed to bring this kind of tripe into a courtroom but Democrats have no shame.

In impeaching and trying the President for behavior that would be perfectly normal in any administration. The President did absolutely nothing wrong.

He is just a flawed, normal human being, not a monster. And the Senate should not be hung up on it for months.

Republicans shouldn’t be blamed for the Democrat inability to make their case and meet the high bar required to remove the POTUS from office.

In sum, this case was never about Ukraine; it was about election year politics. And for all their talk about foreign interference in our elections, one fact is crystal clear.

Democrats have weaponized impeachment in a bid not only to overturn the result of the last election but to overturn the next one.

It must not be allowed to stand and President Trump deserves to be speedily acquitted. Its time for our country to move on.

"Its time for our country to move on.

If we just "move on," we'll have normalized the Dems' behaviors and fraudulent actions without a large part of the citizenry (certainly to include most of the Low Information Voters) realizing what the DS has done is lawless and anti-Constitutional.

There is a strong need to continue the work of draining the swamp, lest all this bureaucracy-based lawbreaking be implicitly rewarded and multiply into future generations. We're already a banana republic in literally all upper echelons of federal agencies (due in large part to the wholly corrupt SES system).

The illegalities of the coup that have since at least 2010 been on-going and emanating from Team Barry and their hold-overs must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Obviously, the Democrats and their supporters, notably in the news media and academia, are disconnected from reality. It's hard to know whether this is mendacity or delusion. But it is an extremely dangerous disconnect.

It appears that some people actually believe the propaganda. Some seem convinced because of low intelligence or bad judgment, some because they lack the will or energy to perceive the truth behind the propaganda.

But some appear to be actually delusional.

Of course, some of them willingly accept lies, distortions, disinformation, fabrications, bogus "information," etc., and willingly spread them, because the propaganda suits their selfish purposes and ambitions.

And, of course, some are simply too stupid to understand what's going on.

It's amusing that President Trump towers over all of them intellectually and morally.

It's amusing to watch them floundering in outrage and frustration, trying to explain, struggling to excuse, huffing and puffing, cussin' and cryin'--unable to accept the fact that President Trump is vastly superior to them intellectually and morally--and that he is armed with TRUTH, placing them in the pathetic position of fighting against TRUTH with inferior resources.

This is what happens when your Party is perceived as a bunch of cheap folding suits (and they prove it on an almost daily basis...).

Cocaine Mitch set the rules last week after the Democrats made 12 attempts to change them to their liking.

He runs the Senate not them. Nancy Pelosi sucks and Chuck U failed to do her bidding.

If there are prizes in Clarice’s Pieces, it’s this:

“How is it an ‘abuse of power’ for Trump to investigate Joe Biden and the overwhelming evidence of his corruption because Biden is running for election but not an ‘abuse of power’ for House Democrats to investigate and impeach him while he’s running for reelection?”

Yes - that one stood out for me too.

In impeaching and trying the President for behavior that would be perfectly normal in any administration.

If Hillary had won, and launched an identical request for investigations into Jared and Don Jr, the media would have praised her for her "gutsy" way of "taking on the Trump dynasty," and furthermore, been awash in admiration that she was "so savvy" as to use foreign aid to force "uncooperative countries to help investigate this corruption." And if Trump had made it clear he was going to be a candidate in 2020, they'd have praised her even louder for "preventing a travesty."

The “inner child” is about gratifying themselves and not about the morality of their actions. They haven’t learned to be an adult or have regressed back into a state of childhood. What tempts them to do this regression is power to get what they want without the pangs of conscience. If you are a needy child, that is all you see. That is your world — not compromised by doubt, pure, authentically YOU. It’s a simple world. And then they start to plot with the glow of the inner child as the mainspring that generates action. It’s an impervious world.

Wuhan: No one knows... how the virus passed into humans. Many target... bat soup in which the bats are... served with their entrails in broth). Others note that Wuhan is the site of two laboratories, part of a covert biological weapons program...

Yeah, that's right; blame the bat soup.

***That Congress, not the President, can determine what constitutes executive privilege***

I have posted in more detail, but the Dem House is trying to set up a parliamentary system; by using continuing impeachment threats they want to eliminate separation of powers and make the POTUS subservient to the will of the majority in the House.

Like converting individual states to their own interpretation of assigning electors to the Electoral College -- and by weaponizing impeachment, they are overriding the Constitution without attempting to obtain amendments to the Constitution.
