Trump's defense must include Joe and Hunter Biden's dealings in Ukraine in impeachment trial, the president's lawyer claims

Former US Vice President Joe Biden, his son Hunter and their work in the Ukraine is 'relevant evidence' in the Senate impeachment trial of Donald Trump, one of the president's defense lawyers claim.

The Democratic front-runner and his son could even be called to testify if the Senate votes to permit witnesses next week.

Trump's team claim that any discussion on the president's call to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky would have to take the Bidens and their actions in the country into account.

The President's defense team began their case for Trump's acquittal on Saturday after Democrats spent three days outlining their arguments for impeachment. Trump's team surprisingly didn't name Joe and Hunter Biden by name.

Speaking before they began their case, Robert Ray, one of the president's defense lawyers, stated that the Bidens' dealings in the Ukraine is 'relevant evidence' in the impeachment trial and they could be summoned to testify if the Senate votes to allow witnesses next week.

Driving the final nail in the coffin may not be required. Besides, listening to some deadbeat crackhead try to cover for himself just delays the acquittal. Completely destroy the RAT 'argument', vote for no other witnesses, end the process and move on.

Agree 100%

NO witnesses. NO “testimony”.

The House presented their case. Vote now and end this sham.

Would Biden’s Democrat political rivals be forced to protect him with their vote against his appearance...or would they be recused from that vote negating Graham’s vote to protect the Bidens? Justice Roberts would decide that, right?

Which is more indicative of incompetence? Biden’s involvement in quid pro quo for an investigation into his son’s honeypot to cease, or
VP Biden’s pronunciation of Kiev, using neither the Ukrainian, nor the Russian pronunciation of ‘Kiev’, but instead calling it KEEVE like in Steve.

Justice Roberts would decide that, right?

From what I gather, Roberts is in the room to decide what is constitutional or not. I've heard that he can make a decision and yet get voted down by the Senate. He's not there to be Judge Wapner.

Yes, and he serves one other purpose.

The Overpaid Desk Clerk is also there to chastise "both sides" and to "remind them where they are" when the Republicans dare to hit back against outrageous lies and statements from the Democrats.

Because, there is an equivalency, ya know. If Republicans try to call the Democrats on their horrible lies and start to score points, "both sides" have to be equally rebuked.

Biden is just the tip of the ice berg of the influence peddling and outright extortion by the Obama administration. Perhaps the impeachment proceedings is not the right place to begin unraveling, but draining the swamp demands it.

It will be one of the ten happiest days of my life to see Democrats finally go to jail.

Mitch is running the entire show, and can call for a vote on anything, at any time. You are correct, Justice Roberts is there only to be a Constitutional ‘umpire’, and to some degree...keep insults to a minimum.

I do believe it is not in Joe Biden’s interest to be subpoenaed and would literally destroy him in Iowa. For Hunter Biden, I think he would use his right to remain ‘silent’ and say absolutely nothing. After ten questions by Justice Roberts, it’d be apparent that Hunter was hiding something, and the whole Ukraine ‘interest’ would tumble out into the public.

Kinda funny if you think about it....all this hype back in 2015 to ‘give’ Ukraine this 1.8-billion for natural gas development, which never is openly discussed if ANY gas sites were developed or the money ever used in a positive way. Now, if this had never been done....we’d have almost nothing much for Impeachment.

The best opponent for President Trump in the 2020 election is Biden. I hope they keep him going until the convention. I hope they just ignore him until then.

He would be very easy to beat.

That right there is the bottom line. And the DemonIdiots themselves made it the bottom line.

The whole reason why Trump talked to Zelensky about corruption was because of the Biden family. They are central to the whole impeachment process. They MUST testify.

No Biden corruption -> no phone call -> no impeachment.

Yeh, Graham is acting a bit strange about the Biden’s. I recall Joe made a comment referencing Graham that “if he takes me down he’s going with me”; paraphrasing but close. We should keep in mind that Washington Swamp Creatures have Republicans amongst them. So, it’s my guess that after both sides do their dances there will be no witnesses called. There will be a vote, Trump will be acquitted and things will go back to business as usual. Our only hope is that Barr will be strong enough to investigate and follow the money wherever it leads.

Precisely. Acquit now. Leave the investigation of the liberals wrongdoing for later by a appointed special prosecutor but put this impeachment issue to bed, acquit and move on as dragging this out will only harm or at least hamper Trumps agenda.

You have a point. Graham said he will vote against calling Hunter and Joe as witnesses. He claims they deserve investigation, but it should be done in a different venue. But Graham has done batsh*t as chairman of the Judiciary Committee. He has held no hearings on the Russia and Ukrainian hoaxes. None on FISA abuse and the IG report.

Yep. My SC rep, Trey Gowdy, was a big disappoint too. All talk, no action. These guys have to deliver us heads on pikes or shut up.

Graham has some skeletons to hide on Ukraine. On December 30, 2016, not long after Trump was elected, McCain and Graham were in Ukraine receiving awards from Poroshenko.

President Petro Poroshenko presented US Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham with the Order of Freedom and the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise respectively, ahead of a US delegation meeting in Kiev on Friday.

Yep McCain had an unholy control over Graham. He was leading him to defeat in SC. In 2012, I worked for Walker during his short run. In a straw vote held by Bluffton Republicans, Graham got zero votes. He’s talking tough now, but I still view him with suspicion.
