GOP senators incensed by Schiff’s ‘head on a pike’ remark

WASHINGTON -- Senate Republicans said lead impeachment prosecutor Adam Schiff insulted them during the trial by repeating an anonymously sourced report that the White House had threatened to punish Republicans who voted against President Donald Trump.

Schiff, who delivered closing arguments for the prosecution, was holding Republican senators rapt as he called for removing Trump from office for abusing his power and obstructing Congress. Doing anything else, he argued, would be to let the president bully Senate Republicans into ignoring his pressure on Ukraine for political help.

“CBS News reported last night that a Trump confidant said that key senators were warned, ‘Vote against the president and your head will be on a pike.’ I don’t know if that’s true,” Schiff said.

After that remark, the generally respectful mood in the Senate immediately changed. Republicans across their side of the chamber groaned, gasped and said, “That’s not true.” One of those key moderate Republicans, Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, looked directly at Schiff, shook her head and said, “Not true.”

“Not only have I never heard the ‘head on the pike’ line,” Collins said in a statement, “but also I know of no Republican senator who has been threatened in any way by anyone in the administration.”

It wasn’t immediately clear what impact, if any, Schiff’s comment would have on upcoming votes on witnesses and the ultimate question of whether Trump should be removed from office.

For years the Democrats have been skillful players in the GAME OF POLITICS...

It’s not that they’ve been skilled, it’s that no one has ever fought back.

Not any more...

Excepting that a house member does NOT try to intimidate Senators inside the Senate.

Schiff isn't trying to intimidate, he's too much of an oaf. He's clearly insane and should be labeled as such. And with that Smilin' John Roberts should gavel the farce and dismiss the chamber.

My new title for him is “Bug-Eyed, Pinheaded, Pencil-Neck Geek.” I think I’ll trademark it next, lol.

Schiff was trying to use public opinion as an intimidation weapon. He is an oaf, but thinks himself much, much more.

“Then they will claim COVER UP!”.

Plausible that that is the plan. Or the Dems are just stupid and have overplayed their hand - significantly.

Tom Cotton laughed at him, but it doesn't surprise me that the Nervous Nellie Twins sere shocked, SHOCKED! I guess they haven't seen his act before yesterday. I still don't trust either of them when it comes to a vote.

If POTUS was Klinton right now Schiff would be in Fort Marcy park.

What is really F'd up about this is that it took this one thing to get their hackles up. So after 3 years of lies and slander against our good President, it took Schiff slander against the Senators personally before the out rage starts?

That's the outrage, just how out of touch with reality all Senators seem to be.

Schiff’s head on a pike would be an excellent turn of events.

How telling that the GOP senators are incensed by a cheap political remark like this but they are not incensed by an UNCONSTITUTIONAL SHAM broght before them. In fact, by not dismissing it they are legitimizing this travesty.

They are only apparently bothered by what insults them personally.

Schiff will go down in history like Charles Manson: both couldn’t sell their art and turned to villainy. You could throw the failed artist Adolf Hitler in there too.

If by some strange twist the senate actually removed President Trump, there would be heads on pikes.

I don’t know if that’s true,” Schiff said.
That covers everything he says.
