Democrats are 'coming after me' because I am pro-life says Donald Trump as he becomes first ever president to address anti-abortion March for Life praising 'phenomenal' Supreme Court justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch

Donald Trump became the first president to attend the annual March for Life in Washington on Friday, unleashing a fierce attack on his Democratic rivals during a rally in an election-year show of support for opponents of abortion rights.

'Unborn children have never had a stronger defender in the White House,' the Republican president told thousands of cheering people at the rally, touting his anti-abortion policies and his appointments of conservatives to the federal judiciary including Supreme Court Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch.

Among his most loyal political supporters are evangelical Christians, who strongly oppose abortion rights. The event took on aspects of a campaign rally, with Trump lashing out at his political opponents and some in the crowd chanting 'Four More Years!'

'Sadly, the far left is actively working to erase our God-given rights, shut down faith-based charities, ban religious believers from the public square and silence Americans who believe in the sanctity of life,' Trump said.

'They are coming after me because I am fighting for you. And we are fighting for those who have no voice, and we will win.'

Demonstrators from around the country converged on a cool, overcast day in the U.S. capital for the event held annually around the anniversary of the Supreme Court's landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that recognized a woman's constitutional right to an abortion and legalized the procedure nationwide. Many high school and college students joined in the rally.

Trump, seeking re-election on Nov. 3, addressed the event in the midst of his impeachment trial in the U.S. Senate on charges passed by the Democratic-led House of Representatives. While not mentioning impeachment, he assailed congressional Democrats on abortion policy. Trump drew loud applause from the crowd.

Well, Mr. Trump, you are attacking the unholy sacrament of Liberalism, and they don’t like that at all.

It’s their very life’s blood.

It’s not entirely clear what Gorsuch & Kavanaugh will do in the next major abortion case.

"an election-year show of support for opponents of abortion rights."

If abortion was a right endowed by our Creator, you wouldn't need to pay a doctor to get one.

I watched this today on a live stream on a Catholic TV channel. It was interesting. The President was great.

He is amazing. I don’t know where he gets his energy to do it. Was in Davos two days ago and gave a great address. Then held a long press conference. Then flew back across all the time zones and the Atlantic. Comes today with energy. And in the meantime is messing with the heads of liberals trying to impeach him by sending out a thousand tweets an hour!

Best President in the last 100 years, for sure.

I suspect that the most persuasive case that we can make to the Dems and Indys is that of the icky inhumanity of partial birth abortion.

I'm not in favor of ANY abortion, mind you, but the specter of murdering a newborn (or nearly newborn) is the most compelling and convincing optic with which we can reach the thinking Citizens who are unsure.

Start with partial birth murder, make that a beachhead.

I was in the crowd, it was not in any way a campaign stop. I think there was only one Four More Years chant that last maybe 20 seconds.

What it was was a commitment in front of several hundred thousand witnesses that we have a President who will continue to work to make abortion unthinkable in this country

No doubt about it.

But to single out 2 justices by name, as if they are part of the pro-life movement, is a mistake.

Will lead some to be cynical when the justices disappoint.
Implies falsely that they speak for the movement.

Watching it live, I didn’t get the impression at all that Trump was doing it as a “campaign stop.” Of course he wants the votes of the pro-life folks, but in watching it, I found him to be sincerely pro-life. I know that he has not always been pro-life, but as the pro-abortion liberals say about other issues, he “has evolved.”

This is the real reason he is being impeached.

Trump just sewed up the Catholic and Evangelical vote in a 15 minute appearance. Nice move.

It'll be fun to watch the Demagogic Party try to spin enough to formulate a response that won't get them whipped like the family pig.
