The Naval Station Great Lakes has gone on lock down on Friday morning as authorities warn of a 'gate runner.'
The station, located in a North Chicago suburb, shared a short message on their Facebook telling people to 'hide' or 'fight.'

I would assume deadly force to stop a gate runner. Oh he didn't know the sign said STOP. It's all good. Now he is stopped.
Someone please explain why commissioned officers in the United States Armed Forces are not required to wear their sidearms while in uniform on duty.

I know of a base where the gate MPs have M16s, but are issued no bullets.
This just happened with Corpus Christi NAS about a month ago.
Recently had an idiot drive through the gate at our naval base. He was chased across the base to the other gate. The barriers, built into the street, popped up and his stolen car crashed, sitting on top of it. He jumped out and started shooting and security killed him. He asked how to get to the base at the gas station before he stole the car.

It’s the California effect, here in Los Angeles they tell you to run and hide in a closet so the coroner can come collect your body afterwards.

Did they have anybody in particular in mind to fight with or just randomly fight with anyone you see?
Aside from having armed guards, it used to be standard for a patrol truck to be manned at the gate to facilitate tracking/stopping as necessary.
