DAVOS -- Britain’s Prince Charles said on Wednesday that global warming and climate change are the greatest threats humanity has faced, calling on business leaders in Davos to act now to create a sustainable economic future.
In a speech to the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in the Swiss ski resort, the British heir-to-the-throne said it was time for everyone in a leadership role to take action “at revolutionary levels and pace”.
“We are in the midst of a crisis that is now, I hope, well understood,” he said. “Global warming, climate change, the devastating loss of biodiversity are the greatest threats that humanity has ever faced and one largely of our own creation.”
His warnings came a day after U.S President Donald Trump, also speaking at Davos, dismissed “perennial prophets of doom” on climate change.
The 71-year-old prince, who chose to make the final leg of his journey to Davos by electric car rather than helicopter, has spent much of his life campaigning for business and governments to take more notice of environmental issues, admitting that “quite frankly it has been a bit of an uphill struggle”.
“What good is all the extra wealth in the world, gained from ‘business as usual’, if you can do nothing with it except watch it burn in catastrophic conditions?” said Charles, who was at Davos to launch a Sustainable Markets Initiative that aims to find ways to decarbonize the global economy.

Charles has always been a dolt. If he had any sense, he would realize that human progress, freedom, and capitalism has made the world richer, safer, and cleaner. I guess he wants to go back to the time when only royalty had nice stuff and everyone else lived like peasants.

It’s not quite fair to place the blame for an impossible rescue on George’s plate or in the lap of England. There was extensive coordination of rescue plans between England, France, Sweden and Norway, with Spain even negotiating with Germany and the Vatican also pressing the Russian provisional govt. A businessman by the name of Armistead hatched a plan to rescue them by boat. Even a sympathetic Russian tried to divert a train for them.
By the time of the Romanov’s imprisonment, 1) Nikoli was known as ‘bloody Nicolas’ and Alexandra particularly was detested in England as a supporter of Germany against England; at a time when 2) England was all-in on WW1 against Germany, with 670K men lost in battle. 3) The Brits recinded their asylum offer as part of diplomatic maneuvering: they asked the request for asylum for the Romanovs to come from the Russian govt. A move meant to gain favor with Russian citizens in case the counterrevolution favored Germany over England, and to appease English citizens; 4) But their exile was opposed by Russian extremists; and 5) Noone imagined the children would be harmed. 6) Rescue negotiations were begun by many nations, but the Empress being bedridden, her son unable to walk, then all the children with measles and rivers frozen over complicated logistics of a crash-and-rescue of an armed compound and subsequent escape to friendly territory; 6) A plan was developed between the British and Spain for Spain, a neutral WW1 country, to accept the Romanovs, Spain’s Alfonso in negotiations with the Bolsheviks who led him to believe the wife and children were still alive for several months after the fact; 7) The race against time was lost. The provisional govt in Russia fell, Lenin seized power and with the wheels of rescue turning ever faster, with more and more nations raising their voices, Lenin let his hand fall.

I never once claimed the English killed the Romanovs.
I claimed the false monarch and heretic George V, in addition to being a historic fraud, was a historic coward who turned his back on his own flesh and blood when he could have saved them from being slaughtered.
And I never mentioned any "rescue." Nikoli appealed to his COUSIN personally long before any rescue would have been necessitated.
