National Weather Service issues alert for falling iguanas (Global Warming)

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Miami issued an alert for falling iguanas Tuesday as temperatures are expected to drop.

As temperatures are predicted to reach in the 30s inland and 40s along the coast, iguanas could fall from trees as they slow down or become immobile. The reptiles react this way to falling temperatures because they are cold-blooded.

“This isn't something we usually forecast, but don't be surprised if you see Iguanas falling from the trees tonight as lows drop into the 30s and 40s,” weather service tweeted.

“They may fall from trees, but they are not dead,” the warning continues.

That’s right folks, for a mere $99.99, you can buy this iguana-proof umbrella!

Those iguanas bounce right off this umbrella!

It’s even kind of fun for them!

They can do flips and cartwheels and such!

Don’t you want to help an iguana get ready for the olympics?

Buy one now!

Iguanas are a new invasive species and are multiplying exponentially in Florida and totally out of control. If you see them dropping out of trees, kill them and figure out a good way to cook them.......

As a side note, there are now hunting outfitters in Puerto Rico that will take you hunting the damn things with air rifles.............

Yes. This is a good opportunity to 'thin the herd'.

Great Iguana story.

Was an asst scout master back in 2013 and were went to Seabase near the FLA keys on an island the BSA owned called Munson. We were being given orientation on the flora and the fauna on the island, when out of the weeds come 2 huge iguanas. One was 30" head to tail. The guide had a broom stick in his hand, took it and beat the living hell out of the iguana. Hit it so hard, the one or his eyes flew out of its socket. I asked him "I thought scouts did no harm?" He said" yes....unless it's an Iguana. It's invasive species and destroying the natural nesting birds habitats in Florida, same as pythons in the Everglades. You can kill as many as you see and we will pay you $5 a head!" Never saw so many boys grab sticks in all my life. Never saw one, but if they fall out of a tree, kill em!"

Last year i was north of Miami and an Iguana almost fell on my head.
It’s not that unusual down there.
But of course, so are hurricanes and rising sea levels..Global Warming!

Right, they’re an invasive species, but some of the news outlets are advising to leave them alone - apparently to be “nice” to them, since they’ll revive upon warming.

I suppose that last might depend on how far they fall, and onto what.

Yup, NBC says, gotta leave them alone.

Do they taste like chicken?

*😳*!!! I gotta say, if I was walking down a street and an Iguana fell on top of me, there isn't enough oxygen in the world to revive me. This is the stuff of nightmares!
