If John Roberts lets this trial go on, you will know who he really is.
I don’t think the Chief Justice has the power to dismiss the articles. The Constitution just says he shall “preside” while it’s the Senate itself that has “sole power” to try impeachments. A dismissal would have to be by Senate vote.
I don’t think Roberts has much if anything to do. I think it’s up to the Senate.
We already know who and what he is.
“If John Roberts lets this trial go on, you will know who he really is.”
1. I think (don’t know for sure) he doesn’t have power to continue it or make it stop.
2. We’ve known who he is since June 2012.
That’s a very naive statement. Roberts has to let the trial go forward, unless someone moves to dismiss the charges on the grounds that even if the allegations are true, as a matter of Constitutional law, they fail to allege an impeachable offense.
