As the economy of China is slowing down, Xi may opt for foreign adventures.

Among the routes displayed on the map, one shows PLA forces first seizing Kinmen, followed by Penghu, before moving on to invade the southern part of Taiwan proper. Another map on the wall appears to show PLA forces breaking from their beachhead into three routes of attack after landing in southern Taiwan.

Taiwan should follow the Swiss (or at least, what the Swiss used to do)

Send army conscripts home with their rifle and 100 rounds of ammunition. Bring them back once a year or so for a day of training, shooting practice, and a BBQ.

Even the most blood-thirsty communist would think twice about invading if there were a couple million armed citizens waiting.

Taiwan will have achieved real independence.

I would be surprised if the PRC did not have such plans.

Having the plans does not mean an invasion is imminent.

I would think the US military has existing plans for the invasion of both Canada and Mexico.

It’s called being prepared

If they launch,m we have little recourse. Like Crimea-Russia “invasion”.

The point is to discourage their launch.

I remember back in the 50s China attacked some of the islands controlled by Taiwan. Heavy shelling and air attacks.

The Nationalists had the new sidewinder missiles and ate the communist’s jets for lunch. Probably would not do as well now.

A guy I follow on Twitter who seems pretty sharp has been predicting this for a long time. The first step was to embed CCP loyalists into the government as sleeper agents, who will execute Xi’s orders when the time comes. They have then in Hong Kong and Taiwan, according to him. Next they will integrate the wealthy finance center of HK with the industrial but much poorer Shenzhen. Then Taiwan.

The protests and how they are being dealt with is practice. There is much going on that never hits the news media because the CCP controls it all.

Yet another reason to oppose doing business with red-China, or more importantly, allowing them to do business here.

No electronic components into any critical infrastructure systems: Even having the factories of American companies with production facilities in China have been proven to be infiltrated, as was seen with SuperMicro (a manufacturer of server systemboards.) Because of detected redesign at the factory, the lost huge sales to Apple and Amazon (the motherboards weren't for commercial products, but the servers that run the business of Apple and Amazon, including AWS.)

The systems wound up with some extra circuitry not originally in the schematics that allowed direct communications between the servers and China, well as allowing China to remotely operate the systems, steal and corrupt data, etc. In the first revision, detected during testing, a rice-grain sized additional chip was found on the systemboard. In a later revision, the circuitry was embedded within the layers of the system board.

There will never be an invasion, China is having trouble controlling Hong Kong much less Taiwan.
