WASHINGTON — President Trump’s administration is weighing whether to seek changes to a 1977 law that makes it illegal for U.S. companies to bribe foreign officials.

“We are looking at it,” White House Economic Adviser Larry Kudlow said at the White House on Friday in response to a reporter’s question about the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Do the "Liberal Elite Thing" -

Don't offer a bribe - buy a 'speech' for $400,000...

That's what the Clinton did - it's what the deep state does - it's what military contractors do...

Our international competitors have had a wonderful time with us out of the game. Bribery is the way the rest of the World does business.

I worked for an attorney on a tax case to get clients tax audit reduced. I thought we got an excellent result based on novel income recreation methods. The attorney told me the client who was from Greece was very disappointed in outcome and that he felt the attorney should have known the proper government officials to bribe.

We play the game now - only the word ‘bribe’ was replaced by the word ‘offset’.

Ask any company selling weapons overseas what they gave for offsets. I know they’ve built hotels for politicians, and in another case a major US manufacturer agreed to purchase thousands of tons of fish from the brother of a defense official in a NATO country.

This won’t change a thing.

Yeah, I always thought it was sanctimonious for the US to say that the standard way business is done in some locales is beneath us.

We, like everyone else, have been lying to other countries for years. It’s called diplomacy.

The article was on banning overseas bribes. Your post was on overseas briDes - technically, you used an incorrect word in place of a word with a similar sound (i.e. a malapropism), resulting in a nonsensical yet humorous utterance. The Emily Litella bit was all about malapropisms. Ergo, my posting of the picture.

Btw, I thought your joke was great, as did the CC'd FReeper. Comedy gold.
