President Trump is expected to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, next week, as his impeachment trial in the Senate begins, several senior administration officials told CBS News. And he is expected to have a handful of one-on-one meetings with world leaders while he's there.

On Thursday, Mr. Trump had indicated he was likely to go, telling reporters, "I will probably be going to Davos. I've been invited. We have tremendous world leaders, and we also have the great business leaders. And we want those business leaders all to come to the United States."

The administration is currently in discussions about a sit-down meeting with Iraqi President Barham Salih in Davos, and administration officials familiar with the planning are optimistic it will take place.

The trip gives Mr. Trump the opportunity to offer a visual contrast between what he views as a "sham" impeachment process in the Capitol and positive photo opportunities highlighting the U.S.' strong economy on the world stage at Davos, a senior White House aide argued.

Also attending this year's forum, according to her Twitter profile, is Greta Thunberg the 17-year-old climate activist whom the president has mocked on social media.

Uh, oh. Big Media may be torn on which is more important.

From what I gather, this rumor stems from RAF closing down heathrow for a plane.

It gathered speed with various people claiming their news desks, military buddies, etc confirmed.

We will see if this is yet another hoax.

I think the Heathrow thing is true. the rest might not be.

The dude is or was 98. His mission most of his life was to serve as a paperweight for the Queen.

Philip, we hardly knew ye.

Prince Philip was certainly never politically correct.

I enjoyed his statements and reactions over the decades!

The Queen never seemed to want to reign him into the politically correct world.

I think she actually enjoyed, perhaps envied he could get away with statements...

Prince Harry and Megan surely may have screwed the pooch deciding to insult the Royal Family at this time.

Personally, as much as I detest Prince Charles and his now wifely slut, it would be delicious irony to see their reaction to his son’s behavior.

I can understand Prince Harry to a degree. He’s ignored Royal Protocol the same way his dad did when he was married to his mother. The acorn sure didn’t fall far from the tree.

If it were any other woman, I may even have agreed with Prince Harry’s actions.

Megan Markle and the way they did it? Naw...just like his dad.

Pres Trump’s traveling anywhere always concerns me.

It’s a real possibility the Secret Service has not rid itself of those who don’t like Pres Trump.

Does Pres Trump still have any of HIS old security with him?

I sure hope so. (Sigh.)

Davos is trash. Disgraceful for any American president to go there. Same for bilderberg and bohemian grove

Prince Phillip was the perfect match for the Queen as I see it. But she was equally so as well. They both have an amazing way of relating and understanding all these years...but they had to work at it to be sure! Bottom line it has stood the test of time!

It astounds me how many FReepers who should know better actually think this way.

President Trump is not a fool.

He never let go of his long term, trusted security team. Do you people really think he’s stupid enough to rely on employees of the *government* to keep him alive?

He is also not clueless about dem election fraud. Dem cheating goes back many decades. The President is quite well aware that they will ramp it up this time.

This will be the cleanest, most closely watched election in US history. Plans have long been in place.

Just because no one told you about it doesn’t make it less true.

Some of the people and procedures will have high visibility for a deterrent effect.

Others will be entirely covert.

Stop insinuating that President Trump is a doddering imbecile.

Oh, my.

Did I just step on your last frayed nerve, jazminerose?

I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest folks probably do not ask you (personally) for advice because you are so rude.

Being sure of yourself in your beliefs does not allow one to behave in the manner of a Democrat who’s been asked a question.

FReepers use this site to ask fellow FReepers questions about concerns they have and it’s usually assumed the FReepers answering those questions have some decorum or at the least a bit of civility.

Try reigning in your ‘I’m so much smarter than you,’ attitude, please.

You never know when your rudeness could cause a sincere questioner to decide to look elsewhere for a qualified answer with grace.
