It’s a free country. She gets to feel about her braids how she feels. The government shouldn’t get to harass citizens. Just because she’s all new-agey about her braids absolutely does not excuse the behavior of the TSA agent.
My wife has a “tan” and gorgeous long black hair. If that happened to her it would be a contest as to whether she or I took them down first.
I’ve seen much worse from the TSA, and they get away with it. I quit flying commercial in July 1996, after TWA 800 was shot down. Go after a TSA agent and see what happens to you...

She was inappropriately mocked and made fun of and all she wanted was an apology, which the TSA agreed to and gave her.

This would be even better if the TSA agent was an affirmative action hire as are most of them, especially in Memphis, Jackson, and Atlanta.

I don’t know about hair being part of her spirit, but the tsa worker was way out of line. Inappropriate social behavior can be a symptom of ADHD, ignorance of ordinary social skills, or just plain rudeness. Maybe the agent is an aspiring stand-up comedian -— nearly all of them come from dysfunctional families. It’s where my family got our warped, but hilarious sense of humor. It’s a coping mechanism that usually doesn’t work in regular social or job related interactions.

Complete disagreement. The only way TSA agents will ever improve is if they are disciplined because of their rude behavior.
Hopefully a 7 figure settlement will cause the supervisors at TSA to discipline their bad apples. And even better plan would be for a 7 figure judgement that came out of the TSA supervisor's retirement plan, raise pool, and bonus pool.
