The Fascist Roots Behind Today's Justification of Political Violence
American Thinker.com ^ | January 17, 2020 | Doug Petrikat

A few weeks ago, I met an old friend who is a professor. We discussed various issues, but when the subject of Antifa came up I was surprised by what he said. He stated that the acts of violence committed by Antifa are justifiable because we know what fascists have done and should do anything to prevent that from happening again. When I mentioned that some of the people being assaulted are ordinary Americans wearing MAGA hats, he merely said maybe Antifa should be more specific about whom they target.

Justifying Antifa’s violent actions is nothing new. I have heard or read enough similar statements that I was starting to think new members of Antifa and its fan club in academia, the media, and in the Democratic Party, all receive the same flyer instructing them how to respond if anyone criticizes their acts of violence, even when journalists and bystanders are among the victims.

But now someone I personally know and consider a rational, intelligent person was justifying political violence. It made me think that we have reached the point where apparently normal people believe violence is an acceptable way to resolve internal political differences. This is a disturbing development.

In a civilized society, freedom of speech and open discussion enable those with different views to learn from each other and consider their own positions from a more critical perspective. However, where threats, intimidation, ridicule, and political violence are the norm, open discussion is suppressed, and progress is hindered.

Ironically, those who support Antifa, mob violence, and ending freedom of speech, and are intolerant of those with other views, often call themselves progressives, while theirs are regressive thoughts. They are regressive because this goes back to the days of kings, dictators,

Dear Doug Petrikat:

Sounds like you need to be more selective about who you call a “friend”. The “professor” sounds like a real assh*le.

The so called enlightened and freedom loving group ANTIF and the progressive movement can not erase the fact that they are one of the most vicious and vile political wings that have ever come to power.
“The total number of people communist regimes killed in the 20th century has been estimated to be 120 million.”

The number may be higher with the Chinese but the fact remains that anyone that supports this type of ideology is a threat to humanity. Socialism is a short hop away in the political spectrum and what is scary is the Left wears that like a badge of honor.

As I read the article I remember when I was in High School in Arizona this was taught in great detail and I remember my teacher was adamant that this was evil in the highest order. Now I can say looking back on it he was right.

Antifa seems to have the support of the “media” in spite of them being the actual thugs just out for mayhem. They call us Nazis and are not challenged on it. Who wouldn’t be against Nazis? The main stream media is the greatest enemy.

We need a robust way of identifying and doxxing antifa members as they depart from rallies

[snip] Antifa began a century ago in 1921 as a front group under the direction of the Soviet Union to incite a Communist revolution in Germany. In 1923 the Politburo of the Communist Party in Soviet Russia held a meeting to plan an armed insurrection to overthrow the struggling democracy in Germany’s Weimar Republic. Following the Politburo’s instructions, the German Communist Party formed its armed movement to silence rival political parties through violence and to overthrow the government. The party named its movement Antifaschistische Aktion.

The party chose the name Antifaschistische Aktion, now known as Antifa, because an Italian Marxist fell out with his nation’s Socialist Party, founded his own party, and took power in 1922. Although he still held leftist views, nationalized 75% of Italy’s economy, and expanded the state’s social safety net, he believed that a hierarchy should be part of society and ignored the dictates from both the Socialists in his former party and the Communists in Moscow. For this heresy, his new party was branded as a rogue movement.

His name was Benito Mussolini and he was the founder and leader of the Revolutionary Fascist Party. This was another socialist party, which French socialists supported but the Soviets condemned. Even before seizing power, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics was never very tolerant of other socialist parties; after it seized power, it executed those parties' members.

With the left the ends have always justified the means. Historically socialism has been considered to the right of communism, but these days communists call themselves socialists because it has less threatening connotations.

Leftist historians try to paint Hitler as a right winger when actually Nazi stood for national socialist and Hitler had true socialist roots. Mussolini was another with a long history of association with socialist groups stretching back to his youth.

Fascism is by definition is supposedly a far right political ideology, but in reality dictators labeled as fascists almost always have left wing roots. Given the left’s desire to control every aspect of all citizens lives, does it really surprise anyone that various factions competing for leadership would try to eliminate one another by calling each other fascists?

The only “Ism” I believe in is AMERICANISM.

And anything that gets in the way of Americanism and the furtherance of it for our children and grandchildren needs to be erased.

By any means necessary.

So in my opinion to professor is ill educated!

The communists and anarchists showed the way for the fascist when it comes to violence.

As for that other great Leftwing tradition besides violence, lying, I would point to the supposed great truth teller Upton Sinclair.

Around here I’ve got an old newspaper with a front page story where Sacco and Vanzetti were denied a stay of execution and as a consequence got what they deserved.

Sinclair, it turns out, knew from their lawyer that they did it but wrote his tripe as an exoneration because it would sell well with his
Leftist reader.

Whether initiated from the far right or the far left, actual or threatened violence has no place in political discourse. I’m surprised that a well-educated person cannot see that.

This is what the left is always about. Using violence to advance their agenda.

There’s a very simple response to anyone who claims that “ANTIFA” is “Anti-Fascist,” and especially is they claim that the name MEANS they are “anti-fascist.”

Simply say, “So you also believe that in the 1930s and 1940, the ruling party in Germany was socialist, since the name of what we call the “NAZI” was actually the National Socialist Workers Party. And you also believe that North Korea is a democratic republic, because the name of the country translates to “DPRK,” the “Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea.”

Just because evil people use an innocuous name does NOT mean that the organization isn’t dangerous and evil.

ANTIFA hate conservatives, so of course, they’re the darlings of the media.

The current state of the media has MOST of the so-called “journalists” wanting job security for life, and what better way than writing propaganda for a totalitarian government. Hence, their blind loyalty to the dems.

They call President Trump a danger to a free press, and they idolized Obama.

President Trump says mean things and hurts their feelings, so they hate him.

Obama persecuted, spied on, and jailed journalists, and they still love him with the slavish abandon of an abused spouse.

They WANT to be a part of the new revolution. My greatest hope is that once the revolution has been successful, the people who helped foment the revolution are usually lined up against the wall and shot, since the victors know if they were able to help them come to power, they could also help topple them from power.

The professor needs a bullet behind the ear. As a demonstration of the reality of “fascism”.

If you listen to any of these morons when they talk about justifiable violence against “fascists”, they extend their fantasy world beyond the mob violence they use against small numbers of Trumpistas or single old white men with Maga hats as though they were in the majority.

They need to recount the Trumpistas who might be willing to defend themselves with something more than Maga hats. The purchase of guns seems to be rising right along with concealed carry permits. Personally, I’m an old man who is contemplating a sword cane.

I get the disingenuous retort that our grandfathers were ANTIFA on the beaches of Normandy. Just spin because they know damn well that ANTIFA is a bunch of unemployed storm troopers.
