When Oscar night rolls around, Californians rooting for “Once Upon A Time…in Hollywood,” “Marriage Story,” or “Ford v Ferrari” will be able to thank themselves as well as the Academy. In all three cases, Golden State audiences not only paid for the movie tickets and Netflix subscriptions underwriting their production, but also let their tax dollars be leveraged by movie studios to produce those Best Picture nominees in-state.

If anything, California may be willing to double down on one of its flagship industries. Assemblywoman Luz Rivas has proposed a bill, AB 1442, to give production companies even more credit if they leave Southern states with restrictive abortion laws.

As a California taxpayer I have to subsidize the sick Hollywood film industry and now the abortion lobby.

If my tax dollars subsidize hollywood, than every taxpayer in the state should get a cut of the action thrice a week in check form...Not from the overall profit because there never is a profit for a movie (creative accouting)...anyway...where’s my cut?

Yes, it has been worth it. Hollywood has created a counterculture revolution that has swept America from coast to coast. It has normalized and championed every single social-cultural insidiousness that has come out of academia and leftist indoctrination. Hollywood has been an invaluable front in the propagation of every walk idea and anti-American sentiment that is at the foundation of the neo-Marxist ideology. Yes, every single penny that California has invested in Hollywood has been worth it and has paid dividends many times over.

Everything in politics is quid pro quo. We see how Hollywood is doing everything in their power to promote the Democrat party and to destroy President Trump. So we see that Hollywood is working for the Dems with all of their might—but what is the Democrat party doing for Hollywood? They must be getting something back in return.

The Democrat party supports Hollywood by perpetuating their cultural influence and creating conditions necessary to sustain and amplify the reach of Hollywood. The Democrat party is Hollywood ‘s fertilizer.

Since when do conservatives call tax relief a subsidy?

Should we now call government spending “investment”?
